(haipo) – On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the National Security Headquarters in the Prime Minister's Office issued a clarification to the public regarding recommendations for Israelis residing abroad. The announcement stated that the Israeli public outside the country's borders should take precautions, due to concerns about copycat acts following the terrorist incident that occurred in Australia.
The language of the National Security Headquarters' statement:
- Two terrorists opened fire (12/14/25) at families who had arrived at a Jewish community Hanukkah event, which took place on Bondi Beach, in Sydney, Australia.
- The shooting killed at least 15 people and injured dozens more.
- Past experience shows that there is a concern about imitation phenomena on the part of supporters of terrorism who may act inspired by the event.
In light of this, the Israeli public residing abroad must be careful to take the following precautions:
- It is strongly recommended to avoid attending mass events that are not secured. This includes events at synagogues, Chabad houses, Hanukkah parties, and the like.
- Be vigilant around Jewish/Israeli sites and report to security forces if anything unusual is detected (suspicious person, suspicious object).
