(haipo) – On Saturday night, 21/6/25, a private zoo for wild animals and exotic animals was discovered operating inside a stable in Nazareth, in violation of the law. Coastal District police and Border Guard soldiers called the Nature and Parks Authority inspectors to the scene, who seized and transferred all the animals to safely protected facilities, while the owner of the place was detained for questioning.

The police and the Nature and Parks Authority told us: "A private zoo was discovered in the city of Nazareth" - continuing to fight the phenomenon of illegal wildlife trade.
During the activities of the Northern District police and Border Guard soldiers in the city of Nazareth, wild and exotic animals were located that were being kept in a stable in violation of the law and without an appropriate permit. All of the animals were transferred to the custody of the Nature and Parks Authority and taken for further examination and treatment.
On Saturday (21/6/25) in the evening, Northern District police and Border Guard soldiers arrived to search a building used as a stable in the city of Nazareth in accordance with a court order.
When the police arrived at the scene, they identified several cages containing protected animals that are prohibited from being bred, including:
- 2 green monkeys
- 4 scoundrels
- 2 Arcana Parrots
- 1 porcupine
- 1 Common Land Turtle
Inspectors from the Nature and Parks Authority were dispatched to the scene, who seized and transported all the animals to safely protected facilities, while the owner of the place was detained for questioning at the city police station.
The Authority notes that these are the 50th and 51st green monkeys captured in Israel since the beginning of March and transferred to the Israeli Monkey Sanctuary. The Israel Police and the Nature and Parks Authority remind that keeping protected natural values such as monkeys, baboons and turtles in private breeding is prohibited and constitutes a serious offense.
