Prof. Blue Simeon Fainero, a multidisciplinary artist and lecturer in the Department of Architecture at the School of Design at the University of Haifa, won the Israel Prize in the field of interdisciplinary design and art for 2015.
Education Minister Yoav Kish called Prof. Fainero this week (Tuesday, 4/2/25) to inform him of his win, noting Prof. Fainero's unique contribution to Israeli and international art.
The award committee, headed by Mr. Avner Bar Hama and with the participation of Dr. Nurit Sirkis-Bank and Dr. Haim Perlock, noted: "Fienro has become one of the most prominent artists in the country who deal with Jewish spiritual baggage and the power of the symbol and the letter in mystical Jewish culture."
The committee also noted: "Fienro deals with the question of the role of the artist in society, and devotes a significant portion of his time to initiatives that are primarily non-institutional artistic work, out of the belief that in the 21st century the artist must leave the confines of the studio - be involved in society and work to change reality through art that strives for correction and healing."
Prof. Gur Elroy, President of the University of Haifa:
"On behalf of the University of Haifa community, I would like to congratulate Bello on winning the Israel Prize. His work exalts the role of academia in the modern society in which we live. The University of Haifa is a leading academic institution for first-class students, lecturers, and faculty in Israel and around the world, and Bello's win emphasizes the importance we see in nurturing groundbreaking work."
The Israel Prize is the most important and prestigious award given in the State of Israel, and is awarded to individuals whose contribution to their field of expertise and to Israeli society is exceptional. The ceremony will be held on the evening of Israel's 77th Independence Day.

what do you think:
Will the Haifa Municipality's Municipal Naming Committee decide on a neighborhood for Israel Prize winners from Haifa instead of populist names for singers and bands that have never operated from Haifa?
Definitely!
Their placement will support, on the one hand, their value in my eyes.
themselves and on the other hand, a force of attraction for those who come
After them.
This is not demeaning or disrespectful to others.
We need to find another way to praise and glorify.
Congratulations.
Well done!
