(haipo) During the night, the Carmel Tunnels in Haifa were closed for a large-scale joint emergency exercise. Firefighters from the Haifa station practiced several scenarios, including car accidents and vehicle fires, along with operating emergency systems, in cooperation with the Israel Police, MDA, the Carmel Tunnels Administration, and the Haifa Municipality.

Accident and fire scenarios inside the tunnels
As part of the exercise, the teams simulated complex scenarios of road accidents and vehicle fires inside the Carmel Tunnels. The firefighters acted in accordance with the defined scenarios, carrying out operations to rescue trapped people in cooperation with the medical personnel on site, and also practiced extinguishing fires in vehicles. The tunnels were closed to traffic throughout the night to allow the exercise to be held under realistic conditions and in an environment that simulates a real event as closely as possible.

Inter-organizational collaboration to strengthen preparedness
The exercise involved cooperation between several parties: Fire and Rescue, Israel Police, Magen David Adom, the Carmel Tunnels Administration, and the Haifa Municipality. According to the Coastal District Fire and Rescue spokeswoman, this exercise constitutes a strategic pillar essential for maintaining inter-organizational coordination and enhancing the operational response of all partner bodies during emergency events in the Carmel Tunnels. The joint activity is intended to ensure that all relevant parties are coordinated and prepared to handle complex events in the unique and challenging environment of the tunnels.
