(haipo) – Firefighters from the Haifa station conducted an extensive field exercise in the Bustan Stream area, simulating a forest fire scenario threatening the Carmel Forests Hotel. The exercise was conducted in cooperation with the Nature and Parks Authority and the hotel’s emergency team, as part of preparations for the fall season, a period characterized by strong easterly winds that increase the risk of fires.

Fire Scenario: Protecting the Hotel and Evacuating Guests
During the exercise, the teams practiced communication procedures between all parties, protecting the hotel from the spread of fire, scanning for trapped people, and proactively evacuating all guests from the complex. The exercise was designed to test the forces' readiness for a real-life scenario and improve coordination between firefighters, hotel teams, and the Fire and Rescue Service.

Preparing for the Fall Season: East Winds and an Operational Challenge
Fire and Rescue emphasizes that the fall season brings with it particularly challenging conditions: strong easterly winds that can accelerate the spread of fires and create complex emergency situations. Therefore, holding exercises of this type is considered essential to maintaining high readiness and rapid response capability.

Integration between the factors – the key to success
The fire department notes that the exercise emphasized the importance of cooperation between all parties operating in the field, firefighters, hotel teams, and the Nature and Parks Authority, for the benefit of protecting the public and the environment.

Call to the public: Avoid lighting fires in open areas
Alongside the exercise, the Fire and Rescue Department reminds that these days there is Commissioner's order prohibiting the lighting of fires in open areas, and call on the public to act responsibly and preserve nature.
