(haipo) – According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, the latest population data show different demographic trends between Haifa, Tirat Carmel, and the settlements of the Krayot: While Haifa continues to deal with a negative migration balance, Tirat Carmel and certain Krayots show stability and even moderate population growth, mainly thanks to internal migration and positive natural increase.

Haifa: Positive natural increase – but negative migration continues
Haifa's population is approximately 295 residents. The city recorded a positive natural increase of approximately 663 residents, but on the other hand, a negative internal migration balance of approximately 609 residents was recorded, as well as a significant negative international migration balance of approximately 1,722 residents.
The meaning: Even though the number of births is higher than the number of deaths, Haifa continues to lose residents to other cities in Israel and abroad.
Haifa is having difficulty retaining a young population, due in part to the high cost of living, migration to the center of the country, and the search for new housing in the suburbs and neighborhoods.
Tirat Carmel: A city with moderate but stable growth
Tirat Carmel has a population of approximately 32. The city recorded a natural increase of approximately 193 residents, as well as a positive internal migration balance of approximately 119 residents, alongside a relatively small negative international migration balance (approximately -53).
Tirat Carmel enjoys its status as a sought-after satellite city to Haifa, with new construction, more affordable prices, and young couples who continue to move there.
The Krayot: A Diverse Picture – Bialik on the Rise, Yam and Motzkin on Stability
- Kiryat Ata – Approximately 62 thousand residents, relatively high natural increase (358), but negative internal migration balance (-263).
- Kiryat Bialik – Approximately 47 thousand residents, moderate natural increase (132) and a high positive internal migration balance (671), the most impressive figure in the region.
- Kiryat Yam – Approximately 42 thousand residents, very low natural increase (31) and moderate positive internal migration (108).
- Kiryat Motzkin – Approximately 51 thousand residents, low natural increase (80) and almost zero internal migration (7), alongside a negative international migration balance.
Kiryat Bialik stands out as the most attractive city for internal migration among the kriyas, while Kiryat Yam and Motzkin maintain demographic stability without a significant leap forward.
Main trends in the North
- Haifa – Continuous downward trend due to negative migration, despite natural increase.
- Tirat Carmel – A city with moderate growth, attracting mainly young families.
- The Crashes – Mixed trend: Bialik is strengthening, Ata is suffering from an exodus of residents, Yam and Motzkin are maintaining stability.
The demographic future is moving to the suburbs
The clear trend emerging from the data: Demographic growth in the north is occurring mainly outside Haifa, in the ring cities and suburbs. Haifa, on the other hand, is having difficulty curbing negative migration, a process that may affect the labor market, education, real estate, and urban development in the coming years.

There isn't enough new construction in Haifa. Haifa doesn't have a lot of land, so there hasn't been much new construction for several decades.
Currently, dozens of evacuation and construction plans are being promoted in the city, most of them with a multiplier of 3.5-4.0, and finally, new apartments are expected all over the city in the coming decade.
I believe that then we will also see an increase in immigration into the city.
Stop giving praise to invading immigrants to live in the city so they won't flee.
Haifa is ending because of the Shalmans. This is the end of Haifa.
Mayor – Wake up!!!!!!!
Haifa is over
In Kiryat Ata, negative migration is clear.
There is nothing to look for in Kiryat Ata.
Terrible traffic jams going in and out all the time
There is no culture.
There is nothing in this village.
Instead of encouraging businesses to flourish, inspectors are issuing reports for bringing merchandise into stores, rather than giving residents the feeling of having fun shopping.
Inspectors are constantly going around to make reports on cars too.
Instead, stores with an abundance of merchandise will be left outside, giving a feeling of joy. They gather and darken the entire city in a shopping atmosphere.
There's not much to do here, there's no culture, no sports, no fun classes, no nothing.
How could they not...they didn't want construction, they didn't want renewal...they wanted to sleep on their own with green in their eyes...they wanted who would enter Haifa today? Who would stay in Haifa today? Old people without purchasing power. Young people fled where the municipalities were building a decade ago. Now it's too late.
There is no doubt that over the past forty years, the city of Haifa has deteriorated; those who believed that corrupt officials could run a city like Haifa, understand today that local officials are destroying the city of Haifa, leading to chaos, anarchy and slum neighborhoods, which are the future of the city of Haifa, including obstructions to views, cramped apartments with one air direction and poor quality of life, traffic jams that are on the verge of causing traffic to collapse in the city; the cancellation of important and happy roads, the creation of cramped and dangerous neighborhoods, and most importantly – the trampling of the law by municipal employees and planning authorities. Lawlessness!!!!
The cost of living affects most of the public. Buying an apartment in Haifa is more expensive, and to top it all off, higher property taxes are added, so people make the economic consideration, staying in the area but moving a little further away in favor of Tirat Carmel, Nesher, and Krayot, which have cheaper housing components.
Haifa will wake up in the next elections to elect a young mayor with a head on his shoulders.
A city of animal killers. A rotten city, escape quickly.
"Tirat Carmel" on the one hand - builds tall buildings and beautiful neighborhoods for young people... but is actually dependent on ✨️"Beautiful Haifa" in everything related to "employment" & "culture" & "health"... So is "Nesher"...@
😍Therefore, it would be possible, desirable, and right to make a move to "unify authorities" into a huge "metropolitan area" similar to Tel Aviv... under the "Haifa Municipality" = 1 mayor + deputies who would take care of each "large district"!
The same goes for "Karyot" = "Union of Authorities" except for K. Haim, which is an integral part of "Haifa" forever.
Every "Kriya" has a prominent "advantage" and a prominent "disadvantage" and all of them together: "Ata" + "Motzkin" + "Yam" (I will say...)
+ "Bialik" = complement and reinforce each other in almost all "resident needs": housing, education, health, culture, leisure and recreation, etc. 😭😭😭
"And came to Zion - a Savior"…!!!@@@🙏🙏🙏
I was born in Haifa, I grew up in Haifa, I raised children in Haifa.
Very, very disappointed with Haifa,
The new construction is disproportionate, with towers that block all the uniqueness of Haifa! There is no more sea, only ugly buildings without planning and permits. There are no gardens and parks. There are no lawns. Only busy roads, huge buildings.. density. Construction. And because of that it is not pleasant to walk around the city. Especially in the evening.
The sidewalks are neglected and everything looks like a backward city. Haifa will never take off. And all the young people will continue to leave the city.

You are completely right✨️🙏
It's a shame they didn't check by religion/nationality.
In my opinion, they are afraid to check whether the Arab population is migrating to Haifa and the Jewish population and new immigrants are leaving for the suburbs and satellite cities and the center, and therefore the records show young people abandoning Haifa. Are these probably only young Jews and new immigrants?
Also, is there a phenomenon where an Arab population is moving to live in Jewish neighborhoods, such as in the south of the city, and Tzivion is becoming increasingly blurred, and quite a few young Jews and new immigrants fear that the neighborhood will deteriorate within a few years, turning from mixed to Arab, like Abbas Zionism Stella Maris November 2 Bethlehem, Halisa Tel Amal Hadar Chetaton, Shai Agnon Allenby Kabir, etc.?
It is important to note that the Arab population buys and rents apartments legally and they too need to find housing solutions and natural reproduction for themselves. The "fault" is the state, the authorities and the government for not establishing designated cities and neighborhoods for them, and at the same time, the idea that respectful coexistence is possible by living in the same state in separate cities and neighborhoods, and that the end of mixed neighborhoods and settlements is, in my opinion, to be abandoned by Jews/immigrants.
The immigration of the non-Jewish population is a threat to everything, we must understand and learn from Europe, we must see that it is a matter of time before they demand mosques, close streets, and exorbitant conditions. It is absolutely forbidden to sell and rent apartments to them, because according to their laws, a person who sells property to a Jew is sentenced to death. There are enough countries in the world for this population and we have one country.
