The Tirat Carmel Municipality held the fourth meeting in a series of professional meetings on the subject of urban renewal, led by the municipality's CEO Noga Nahum Dahan and initiated by the Urban Renewal Administration. The meeting was designed to promote and implement urban renewal processes while strengthening the joint work between the municipality's departments and adapting the solutions to the neighborhoods being renewed.
Current status and collaboration between municipal departments
During the meeting, the Urban Renewal Administration presented the current status of the projects in the city and the expected implementation in the coming years. Alongside the presentation, a professional discussion was held on the cooperation required between the municipality's departments, with the aim of preparing in advance for the needs of the public, infrastructure and municipal services.
The Education Division presented the principles of the program for public spaces and educational institutions required within the framework of the renewal processes, and the Public Works Division presented principles for planning public spaces from a comprehensive urban perspective.
The meeting reflected the municipality's preparations for the expected implementation phases, with early planning and coordination between all professional entities.
"Looking a few years ahead"
Municipality Director General Noga Nahum Dahan, said that "Urban renewal requires the municipality to look several years ahead. Alongside the new housing units, we need to ensure that the education systems, public spaces, infrastructure and municipal services develop together with the city. The joint work between the departments of the municipality allows us to prepare in a professional and coordinated manner and to respond to the needs that will arise with the implementation of the plans."
Head of the Urban Renewal Administration, Yigal Osipov, added that "Tirat Carmel is at a significant stage in the urban renewal process, with several plans advancing towards implementation stages."
Comprehensive planning beyond residential buildings
Director of Planning at the Urban Renewal Administration, Adv. Yedidia Kola, emphasized that "planning an urban renewal complex does not end with residential buildings. We examine the space as a whole, public and educational institutions, roads, open spaces, infrastructure and the connection to the existing environment. The professional dialogue with the municipality's departments already in the planning stages allows us to refine the plans and produce more high-quality and practical planning."
The Tirat Carmel Municipality continues to promote urban renewal processes from a comprehensive perspective of the city's development, and with early planning and coordination between all professional entities in the municipality.

I would love to know what the outlook is for the Shazar/Dakkar neighborhood. The buildings there are about to collapse.
