(haipo) - But a heavy weight fell on Kibbutz Nir Oz and the entire State of Israel, with the death of Hana Katzir, who survived the captivity of Hamas after being abducted from her home in Gaza on Shabbat Simchat Torah, the Shabbat in October 2023. Hanna's husband, Rami, was murdered that same Shabbat, her son Elad was kidnapped and murdered in captivity .
A year after she was released in the first kidnapping deal, Hana Katzir of Kibbutz Nir Oz passed away today (Tuesday 24/12), at the age of 24. Hana was kidnapped on Black Sabbath, the seventh of October, together with her son Elad, who was murdered in captivity and whose body was recovered in April 78. Her husband , the late Rami, was murdered on that tragic day. The Katzir family, who lived a quiet and peaceful life in Kibbutz Nir Oz, lost their world that terrible day.
The family, which included the parents, two daughters and a son, and the grandchildren, will never return to the way it was, and today, with Hana's passing, only the daughters, Carmit and Avital, are left, who will have to continue their lives without the anchor - Hana's mother, Rami's father, and Elad's brother.
Hana's death is another painful episode in the tragedy of the Katzir family, symbolizing the depth of loss and pain that many have gone through and are going through since that terrible day.
The funeral of the late Hana will be held today, Tuesday 24/12/24, at 16:00 PM, at Kibbutz Nir Oz.

Carmit Pelati Katzir, the next generation of the Katzir family, married, mother of three and living in Haifa, previously shared in an interview with Lahi Fa, about the shocking day when her mother, the late Hana, returned from captivity:
"It was a crazy day. Two days before her return we got word that she didn't survive the captivity. Our hearts went through a crazy roller coaster. My mother was released at the first beat and we had no idea about anything. We drove quietly to the hospital and prayed that she would arrive safe and in one piece. One o'clock in the morning We met her on a stretcher.
On the one hand, she was very mentally strong and alert, and never stopped telling us what happened to her - faces, people and places. She even provided useful information to the Shin Bet. On the other hand, she returned in a difficult physical condition: she lost 20 kilos, told about difficult conditions in which she slept on an iron bed and did not move from the room, which caused her body to weaken. Her heart also weakened, and it was difficult to stabilize her ".
After her release, Hana recovered and stabilized, and moved to live in sheltered housing while receiving close medical treatment and accompaniment from the medical authorities. Despite the efforts, her heart could not withstand the suffering and she passed away leaving behind a legacy of personal resilience and unimaginable family pain.
