The plans for the term as a representative of the "Most of the City" movement

(haipo) - Sally Abed, the young Arab politician, chairman of the Most of the City faction, who managed to lead the Arab/Jewish public and become a member of the city council in Haifa during a sensitive and tense period, tells in a special interview for Live Fa-TV about the agenda she leads. About the values she believes in and the belief that social resilience And solidarity and living in a safe shared space is the right of both sides.

An egalitarian, green, shared, solidary city and the best it can be

Despite the repeated accusations against the young city council member, the chairman of the city's majority faction, 33-year-old Sally Abed, and the demands for her impeachment that appear in the headlines of the local press, Abed is a young, intelligent and educated woman who believes in living together and promoting egalitarian policies.

Sally Abed, who recently celebrated her 33rd birthday and is in advanced pregnancy, continues to work non-stop to make Haifa a more egalitarian, green, shared and solidary city. According to her, in order to promote this agenda, the committees, departments, education, welfare and security must be made accessible to the residents.

Social and environmental agenda

Abed, a community organizer and fundraiser by profession, also works in political education and campaigns. She is one of the founders of the "Most of the City" movement, which won a mandate in the last elections. The "Most of the City" movement is a Haifa Arab-Hebrew democratic movement with a social and environmental agenda. Abed, who was born and raised in the village of Mi'aliya near Ma'alot Tarshiha in the Upper Galilee, moved to live in Haifa after completing her high school studies. After that she went to study in the United States and four years ago she returned to Israel to settle and start a family in Haifa.

Sali Abed's entry into the city council was not welcomed by some people, especially those who shy away from a Westerner who declares himself to be Palestinian or expresses a different opinion from their own, regarding Jewish-Arab relations. She joins the list of veteran council members who have already developed an elephant's skin on this issue, including Hadash chairman Raja Zaatara and MK Ayman Odeh, who previously served as a member of the city council in Haifa.

Abed addressed the issue and said that these are external people and organizations who do not care about Haifa and the way it promotes the interests of the Haifa people. "I don't take it personally. We live in a difficult time in which there are many extremists. Also being a young politician, an Arab woman who leads an Arab-Jewish public, is a threat to the extremists. They accuse me of things that slip out of my finger, and the resonance it receives is disappointing because it is much less important than many things that we need to promote."

When there are crises, it is time to build a new model for politics

When there are crises, it's time to build a new model for politics that can work better, says Abed, in the special interview with Hai Fa TV and talks about the common interests that she claims are the basis of social resilience and solidarity. In addition, she spoke about the museum program and that the museums are not in an ideal place and that culture is a right and not only to consume but to see ourselves within the culture.

Abed, also referred to the accusations against her in the interview and stated that these are accusations and claims that are pulled from the finger and concluded that she hopes for better and less bad days.

  1. She works for... who?
The lady doesn't know what many neighborhoods look like, certainly Arab neighborhoods.

The museums that gave it to her continue to divide the Arab audience.

She is just like others in the council cut off from the public

  2. "The majority of the city" is a disguise for another arm of Hadash and Maretz...
They conduct a combined incitement together with the Communist Hadash and the New Fund.
The goal was to trash many voters, as if it were a supra-party list.

  3. Sally Be strong and courageous.
"Most of the city" does not represent Arabs or Jews. It represents people and tries to promote what all people need for a life of well-being and dignity - excellent education, public health services, good public transportation and clean air. How does such an agenda manage to generate so much opposition?
It's amazing that what scares some Jews the most is Arabs talking about living together.

  4. A Jew who follows her probably dreams of living under Palestinian rule and does not understand that as soon as it happens
He won't be here anymore either.

    • A person who is a citizen of a state cannot also present himself as loyal to Palestine, which is a limited political authority that teaches its children hatred towards the State of Israel.
Why is this similar, to "refugees" from the Islamic countries who infiltrate the good and comfortable Europe and want to make it Muslim.
There is no double loyalty, if she is Israeli she should not wave Palestinian flags, because Palestine is an enemy!
In most countries of the world, people who sympathize with the enemy would be banned.
It is not a problem to say that you are of Arab origin, because it is a general name for many peoples in the world.

  5. Keep dreaming, you can't even wave an A4 size Palestinian flag.
Those who are proud to be Palestinian move to Gaza or the West Bank and do not continue to enjoy the comforts of life in the Israeli state.

    • Clarification of the meaning of waving a Palestinian flag in Israel in the aspect of disturbing public peace as happened in several demonstrations this year.
And regarding the second paragraph, a question mark at the end (?)

  6. An egalitarian city? Hahaha Pipi, don't censor, a city free of Jews in the vision you mean, why are you being interviewed at all?

  7. Ha is not "expressing a different position".
Expressing a different position is what innocent people do on the street.
She chose and was elected to serve in a municipal authority (and in one of the main cities), in the State of Israel.
Her position is against the state.

And no password or invited interview with the local, will not change that.

  8. Is this how a councilwoman in Haifa should dress and behave?
She expects to be respected when she walks like she's at the beach?
    shocking.

    • Haifa is on the seashore... and most months of the year it is warm or hot here, and people wear shorts. What's wrong with a council member who represents in his appearance the tens of thousands of Haifaites who are far out at sea? Sally is also a pregnant woman, when the usual clothes don't necessarily suit you, and you have to wear comfortable things. So - let go. In official ceremonies I'm sure she wears more elegant and tailored clothes. If you have a criticism of her votes and her policies, pass it on, otherwise you are caught up in irrelevant things in my opinion.

  9. Does anyone know how many votes she received to enter the council. And what is the relationship between Arabs and Jews who voted for her

    • 3,451 people - which is less than 3% of all voters - barely 1% of those with the right to vote.
The only seat her list managed to get was borderline anyway.
And with this achievement, she allows herself to say that she represents "the majority of the city".
