(haipo) – A gang of thieves who tried to escape after breaking into several vehicles in the Haifa airport parking lot were arrested after a dangerous chase, during which the suspects drove a stolen vehicle, ran red lights, hit a police car, and were finally neutralized with precise gunfire at the vehicle’s wheels. The two suspects, residents of Acre and Kiryat Yam, were arrested and their detention was extended at the Kiryat Yam Magistrate’s Court.
Initial report: Vehicles broken into in the airport parking lot
As part of an operational activity by the Israel Police against property criminals, a report was received at the police hotline about suspected vehicle break-ins in the Haifa airport parking lot. Patrol vehicles from the Zevulun station, which were already operating in the area, quickly arrived at the scene and located several vehicles that had been broken into.
During the searches, the officers noticed a suspicious vehicle with no lights and bearing different fake license plates on the front and back. As soon as the driver recognized the vehicle, he began to flee at a wild speed.

The suspect vehicle fled towards Highway 77, running red lights and endangering many drivers along the way. Police forces set up a pre-emptive blockade in the escape route, but the driver of the vehicle refused to stop and even violently rammed a police vehicle.
Given the real danger to human life, the police conducted precise operational shooting at the vehicle's wheels, which led to its neutralization and the arrest of the two suspects sitting inside.
Seizure of stolen property and arrest
During a search of the suspects' vehicle, the following were seized:
- Property suspected of being stolen from broken-in vehicles
- Vehicle documents and licenses
- Pistol cartridge
The two suspects, residents of Acre and Kiryat Yam, were arrested and imprisoned.
The Kiryat Magistrate's Court granted the police request and extended their detention: the adult - until September 20, 2026, and the minor - until the following day.
