(Haipo) – On Monday evening, June 22, 2026, soldiers from the Operational Logistics Unit (OLU) from the Kiryat Station of the Israel Fire and Rescue Service assisted Magen David Adom teams in a complex rescue of a seriously ill woman from a residential building in Nesher. The woman had been confined to her bed for a long time and needed urgent medical attention.

Unusual rescue using a civilian crane from the balcony
Due to her medical condition and great weight, it was not possible to rescue her through the building's stairwell using normal means. The woman, who had been confined to her bed for a long time, required urgent medical treatment that required her evacuation from the apartment, so a unique rescue solution was formulated that included the use of a civilian crane that was ordered to the site.

Access road training and comprehensive safety examination
Before carrying out the rescue, the forces carefully examined all the safety and medical aspects related to the woman and the operation. As part of the preparations, an access route to the crane was prepared on the balcony of the apartment, to allow the woman to be lowered while she was still strapped to her bed. The rescue was successfully carried out using the civilian crane, which lifted the woman from the balcony and lowered her safely, for continued medical treatment. The cooperation between the YALM teams from the Kiryat station and the MDA teams made it possible to complete the complex operation.
