(haipo) This morning at 11:00, a column of thick black smoke was observed rising from the BAZN complex in Haifa Bay. An investigation by the Haifa Bay Cities Association for Environmental Protection, in conjunction with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and BAZN, revealed that a malfunction in one of the pumps at the plant led to the fire. BAZN's firefighting teams took control of the incident, and no injuries were reported.
Bazan reported to Lahi Pa:
Around 11 a.m. today (Tuesday, June 23, 2026), a fire broke out in one of the refining facilities at the Bazan complex. Internal fire crews were dispatched to the scene, carried out extinguishing operations, and the fire was extinguished.
Bazan works in cooperation and coordination with security and rescue agencies.
"Bazan must close and leave Haifa Bay"
Deputy and Acting Mayor of Haifa and Chairman of the Haifa Bay Cities Association for Environmental Protection, Avihu Hahn, He responded to the incident and said that although the incident ended in a short time, the fact that residents of the area were exposed to a column of thick black smoke requires that the public be given clear answers. He said that a thorough examination should be conducted into how the incident occurred, what its environmental consequences were, and what can be done to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future.
Hahn added that "it is once again clear to every sensible person that the BAZN must close and leave Haifa Bay," and emphasized that "the health of the residents of the metropolis is above all; residents of Haifa Bay do not need to get used to such sights."
"An event of environmental significance that requires professional examination"
Director General of the Haifa Bay Cities Association for Environmental Protection, Dr. Lihi Shahar Berman, She added that a fire at one of the BZN facilities, even if dealt with quickly, is an event of environmental significance that requires professional investigation. She said that analyzing monitoring data, emission data, and operational information will make it possible to understand the scope of the event's impact and its implications for air quality.
Dr. Shahar Berman emphasized that it is important that all findings be published to the public in a full, transparent and rapid manner. The Haifa Bay Cities Association for Environmental Protection announced that it will continue to update the public regarding events that have an impact on the environment.

Corrupt people have had enough
The billions that repairs make must be worth a tenth of that to make American-standard filters.
But apparently the money was siphoned off to other places.
The courts are not interested in diseases.
A refinery invests millions in environmental quality systems, but people like you who talk nonsense are not interested. And there is a standard in the country, not only American, but also Israeli and European, and it is stricter than all of them, but you don't read that. Go to the environmental quality website and look at it, and you are just talking.
It used to be essential and there were few residents, so it is unlikely that it will remain contaminated and all of this. Its contribution to society has also decreased. The number of employees has also dropped significantly, and investments in safety are announced every few days about a fire or a malfunction in the septic tank.
The number one factor in harming the Haifa metropolis and its departure is the Zionist organization.
For every shekel they put into the economy, two shekels are spent on pollution, morbidity, hospitals, soil contamination, population flight, damage to the Kishon River, spillage of heavy metals into Haifa Bay and damage to the quality of swimming water, a huge damage to nearby areas that cannot be developed for any use.
We must remove this huge, polluting complex and rehabilitate Haifa. The authorities that will not receive income from the BAZN will receive income from thousands of companies and businesses that will be able to add to the BAZN instead.
The Bazan should be left in its place, a vital enterprise since 1938. Anyone who comes to live in the area after it was established will know exactly where they are going to live, what it means to close... For anyone who doesn't like the area, they should move.
Enough with the nonsense and populism, Bazn is a vital place for the country and he must remain in Haifa, the costs of his transfer are unrealistic.
Enough chatter... they were and will remain.
There are malfunctions everywhere, including strategic locations.
In the event of war, who will provide us with fuel?
Any such infection kills people!!!
Kick this industry out of Haifa Bay!
And as quickly as possible.
Take out the entire factory complex! What about all the promises that were made?
It is already clear to everyone that factories are polluting and harmful, constituting a ticking time bomb.
