(Haipo) – The Haifa Municipality Finance Committee, headed by Deputy Mayor Sophie Nakash, approved a budget allocation of NIS 9 million for the planning and construction of a new community center in the Vardiya neighborhood. With the committee's approval, the project will be submitted to the City Council for approval.
A 350-square-meter center with a multi-purpose hall and accessible facilities
The new center will be built with joint funding from the Lottery and the Haifa Municipality, adjacent to the commercial center on Moran Street in the neighborhood, and will cover an area of approximately 350 square meters. The center will include a modern multi-purpose hall that will be used for a variety of community and cultural activities, including workshops, lectures, community events, film screenings and other leisure activities. In addition, the building will include class rooms, equipment rooms, administration rooms and restrooms. All of the center's facilities, including the restrooms, will be fully accessible to people with disabilities and special needs. Center visitors will have access to nearby covered parking as well as an open courtyard, which will allow for outdoor activities and community events.
Mayor Yahav: "The center will be a community, social and cultural hub"
Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav said, "This is an important and significant project for the residents of Vardiya, with the understanding that the neighborhood needs a modern community center that will meet the needs of the residents. I am happy to see the plan now reaching the implementation stage. The new center will be a community, social and cultural hub for the residents of the neighborhood, will strengthen community life and provide a quality response for all ages."
Municipality CEO: "A significant step in expanding community services"
Haifa Municipality Director General David Luria noted that "approval of the budget constitutes another significant step in advancing the project and expanding the community services provided to the city's residents. The new center was designed to provide a wide range of uses and allow for continuous activity throughout the day. We will continue to work to promote projects that improve the quality of life in neighborhoods and strengthen local communities."
