Where and where - not all residents of the neighborhood are allowed to use the street

(Hai Fe) - Residents of the Verdia neighborhood in Haifa are angry with the Haifa municipality after the new road, which connects the neighborhood with Arik Sharon Street, was blocked from them, and was opened for use only by the residents of the new neighborhood. This, alongside serious problems such as a lack of traffic signs, driving at excessive speed and endangering pedestrians.

The residents of Vardia, who pay high property taxes, filed complaints with the municipality claiming that access to the new road is limited only to the residents of the new neighborhood, who enter through a private parking gate. In addition to this, the drivers on the road drive at a high speed that endangers the pedestrians, and there are no signs or deceleration lanes. Despite repeated requests, the municipality has not yet responded to the residents' requests to address the hazards and make the road accessible to all residents of the neighborhood.

Billy Baruch, a resident of the neighborhood and an activist in the neighborhood committee, told Hai Pa: "The speed on this road is crazy, and there aren't even signs or deceleration lanes. People cross the road while drivers are flying over it. It's a road that should be open to everyone, it can't be open Only for the new neighborhood and not for the residents of Verdia. In addition, we want to add sidewalks on the sides of the road to keep pedestrians safe."

Haifa Municipality informed the residents that a professional team from the Department of Transportation was sent to check their application. According to them, the connecting road section was planned and approved by all the professional bodies, including the Israel Police, and upon completion of the construction work, the road will also be connected to Rav Kaniel Street - a move that should improve the flow of traffic in the area. However, the issue of deceleration lanes will be examined only after the completion of the development works.

Will the residents of Verdia finally get equality in terms of using the new road? Finally, the feeling of injustice remains.

The Haifa Municipality stated in response to Lai Fe:
"The road has not yet been completed and is currently being used as a staging area for the construction of the last buildings in the complex. The road should only be opened when construction is completed. However, due to the security situation, the municipality is working to open the crossing in an emergency as long as it is possible for vehicles to pass even in the closed section. As for complaints about driving speed, This will be checked according to the criteria used in the municipality."

  1. Whiners. The road has not yet opened at all. The segment in question is the entrance to the building's underground parking lot

  2. 1. There is no section on this road that can be driven fast
    2. Today there is no open road for anyone. The exit and entrance is only through a closed parking lot that belongs to the residents of the neighborhood only.

    • Closed parking cannot belong to neighborhood residents
Closed parking belongs to the residents of the building that is their parking.
The residents of the building organized with the neighborhood and the municipality so that it would be beyond the lower neighborhood
But this is not parking for the residents of the neighborhood.

  3. Anyone who deals with transportation in the Haifa municipality, in the present and in the past, is at worst a criminal and at best clueless! Dorey Road, Freud Road, Carmel Center and dozens of other cases of minimal lack of understanding in planning and understanding traffic. The city of shame!

    • In AZ and BSD and the High Court we will replace them with Bina. Then we will remember that even the brats in public transport could have been replaced by technological means already in the 60s. Forgiveness is with you. Sorry for the mistake.
