Difficulty with mobility leads to forgoing medical care
The "For Their Sake" association explains that for many Holocaust survivors, mobility is a critical issue. Even a simple medical examination can become a complex task that involves coordination, travel, waiting, and accompaniment. As a result, this sometimes leads to the forgoing of necessary medical care. Therefore, the association's volunteer doctors' network is designed to bring medical care as close as possible to the patients, in their homes, in assisted living facilities, or in the mobile clinic. This model allows survivors to receive the care they need without having to deal with the logistical barriers that make it so difficult for them.
A nationwide network with thousands of volunteers
The "For Them" association operates a nationwide network, with the assistance of the Claims Conference and the Danieli Foundation, with over 2,000 volunteers, including specialist doctors, interns and medical professionals who volunteer for Holocaust survivors throughout the country. As part of the activity, doctors come to the homes of Holocaust survivors and to housing settings, and provide examinations and treatments in various fields, including ENT, skin, eyes, ultrasound, physiotherapy and more.
