Air Haifa, the airline of the north, continues to expand at an impressive pace: Today (Wednesday, November 19, 2025) the fourth aircraft in the company's fleet is expected to land at Haifa Airport, after being delivered to it at the manufacturer ATR's factories in Toulouse, France. A fifth aircraft will join in December, and a sixth aircraft will arrive in early 2026, as part of the company's strategic expansion plan, which aims to double the aircraft fleet and operate six aircraft from its home airport in Haifa.
Expansion plan: Strengthening the regional economy and expanding the route network
Mickey Strasburger, co-founder of Air Haifa, said: "Every plane that joins the fleet is an expression of our confidence in the North and the potential of Haifa Airport to serve as a convenient and unique alternative. Every increase in activity creates new employment opportunities, strengthens the economic and community fabric of the region and expands the choices of northern residents. In addition, extending the runway at Haifa Airport by approximately 200 meters, as part of Sub-Division 80A, will allow in the near future to expand the route network from Haifa to Western Europe and Dubai. This is a small infrastructural step of enormous significance to the community and the economy, which will strengthen Haifa, the Krayot and the entire north."

The new aircraft are financed through Bank Leumi, with legal support from the Herzog and Gottlieb Gera law firms and the assistance of the company's advisors Shmulik Arbel and Orly Kalmanovich.
Liat Shob, Head of the Business Division at Leumi, noted: "Establishing and operating a new airline in Israel is a strategic move that has the power to accelerate growth after the war, develop transportation infrastructure and expand employment circles."

Price per suitcase: $70 one way and $40 for trolleys
A couple with 2 suitcases flying to Athens, just the luggage on the flight costs $280 round trip.

You wrote "Western Europe" instead of Eastern Europe.
An additional 200 meters to the runway will bring jets like the Airbus 220 or Airbus 318 here. These are small jets that can accommodate about 120 passengers and have a flight range that can easily reach France. That's why they said the flights will reach Western Europe.

1. Someone who used to serve in the IAF's engine department... Why do we buy planes from France? Their technology is terrible in planes, helicopters, and cars!!! It's well known!
2. You don't think about the fact that these planes, God forbid, if they have an accident... they fall straight into the Dor Chemicals plant with lots of methanol tankers... You don't think about that at all? We need to prepare before, not when, all this happens...

2. Getting to and/or leaving the airport is more dangerous than the flight itself.

I am already an older woman…I have been driving for over 40 years. All the vehicles I buy are made in France. Peugeot and Citroen. I have never had an engine failure…
And accidents unfortunately happen all over the world.
I understand falling into the sea is much safer.
