The management of the Government Authority for Urban Renewal held a professional working meeting last week with the Tirat Carmel Municipality and the Urban Renewal Administration, with the aim of accelerating the advancement of the city's renewal complexes that are in advanced planning stages and leading them towards issuing building permits and beginning work on the ground.
Working meeting with the participation of senior officials from the authority and the municipality
The meeting was attended by Mayor Dudu Cohen, Director of the Government Authority for Urban Renewal Yuri Gemarman, Director of the Planning Department at the Authority Gori Nadler, Director of the Public Relations Department Hagai Toledano, and the staff of the Tirat Carmel Urban Renewal Directorate. During the meeting, a detailed overview of the urban renewal complexes that are in advanced planning stages throughout the city was presented, with the main emphasis placed on the transition from approved plans to actual implementation. The parties discussed ways to streamline and shorten licensing procedures, to promote the issuance of building permits, and to remove bureaucratic and infrastructural barriers that may delay the start of work on the various complexes.
Joint surveillance teams and a "green track" for licensing
As part of the process, it was agreed to strengthen coordination between all parties and to establish joint monitoring teams for the municipality, the directorate, and the government authority for urban renewal. The teams will regularly monitor the complexes and work to advance the licensing and implementation procedures, with the aim of moving the renewal plans to practical levels and bringing about the start of construction in the old neighborhoods.
Adv. Yedidia Kola, Director of the Planning Department at the Directorate, noted that "the transition phase from statutory planning to issuing building permits is the most critical phase in evacuation-construction projects," adding that the meeting presented a focused work plan aimed at creating a "green track" for licensing, significantly shortening the timelines for obtaining permits, and providing complete certainty to both residents and developers.
"Turning plans into reality on the ground"
Mayor of Tirat Carmel, Dudu Cohen, said that "Urban renewal is one of the most significant steps for the future of Tirat Carmel, and now our mission is to turn the plans into reality on the ground. We are working together with the government authority for urban renewal and all professional entities to shorten processes, remove barriers and bring the projects to the building permit and implementation stages. The goal is clear, to promote high-quality, modern construction and significantly improve the quality of life in the old neighborhoods and the city as a whole."
Head of the Urban Renewal Directorate in Tirat Carmel, Yigal Osipov, He added that "urban renewal in Tirat Carmel is not just a planning vision, it is a real revolution in the quality of life of the residents," and noted that all efforts are focused on removing barriers to obtaining building permits, "so that residents in the old neighborhoods will see the first tractors in the field very soon."
A broad urban effort to upgrade older neighborhoods
The Tirat Carmel Municipality emphasizes that cooperation with the Government Authority for Urban Renewal will continue on an ongoing basis, while monitoring the progress of the complexes and addressing obstacles, with the aim of accelerating the transition from the planning stage to building permits and actual work. The move is part of the broader municipal effort to promote renewal in older neighborhoods, upgrade public space and infrastructure, and create a high-quality, safe, and modern living environment for Tirat Carmel residents.
