After about 3 months in which only warning reports were given, the Municipality of Haifa will start registering real reports this coming Sunday [May 6.5.2018, XNUMX].
The amount of fines that will be given will be between 500 NIS - 1000 NIS
The reports will be given according to the by-law for Haifa (area with reduced pollutant emissions from transportation) (clean air) hourly instructions, 2017.
The law was approved by the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Transportation and published in the records at the end of 2017: The bylaw was drawn up by the Haifa Municipality in collaboration with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Transportation, as part of an overall plan to reduce air pollution in Haifa Bay which was approved by government resolution (529) to reduce air pollution and reduce environmental risks in Haifa Bay.
For the purpose of implementing the law, the Ministry of Environmental Protection prepared a file that includes all the diesel vehicles defined by the ministry as polluting. The municipal inspectors were authorized to enforce the law, warning signs and road signs were placed prohibiting the entry of polluting vehicles into the city. The owners of the polluting vehicles were sent warning letters and it was made clear that dedicated filters could be installed. at a subsidized price. In addition, publicity and public participation procedures were carried out in preparation for the implementation of the law. Vehicles in which the filters were installed were equipped with a special permit indicating that the vehicle is non-polluting and can move freely in the city.
Installing filters: During the past year, filters were installed in all the buses used on service lines in the city, and the municipality also purchased gas-powered garbage trucks that will replace the existing fleet of trucks.
