A sea turtle named Ofer, who was rehabilitated at the Sea Turtle Rescue Center, was released this afternoon in a reserve located near the Sea and Lake Research Institute in Haifa
The sea turtles are washed ashore for various reasons, including swallowing plastic bags or hooks from fishing rods (Sharak). At the Center for the Rescue of Sea Turtles in Trawling, various treatments are performed, among them intestinal surgeries, which are designed to bring together the cause of the infection. After a recovery period they are put to sea.
