A new donation record in the "Go for a Run 5" race: close to a million shekels were collected in the "Go for a Run 5" race that took place last Friday
Over 4,500 people of all ages and fitness levels - from children in strollers to participants over 80 years old - participated last Friday (March 23.3) in the "Go Run" race, which over the years has become an integral part of the tradition of sports events held in Haifa and marked its fifth year this year.
The participants, who took part in the competition, ran in a circular route 2 kilometers long and earned NIS 20 for each kilometer run. In order to meet the competitive goal and the desire to break the revenue record, the participants chose to circle the route several times, and thus managed to accumulate a record sum of over NIS 980 thousand - the highest ever accumulated in the "Go Run" races.
The money raised by the participants will be donated by the "Friendship Fund", led by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, who is also a participant in the race, to three social projects - donating food stamps to needy families, clothing for boarding school children, and to the "Shila" association that works for the welfare of senior citizens and Holocaust survivors in Haifa.

Among the participants this year was the Chief of Police, Superintendent Zohar Dvir, along with all officers of the Coast District, dozens of volunteers from the "Etgarim" association, representatives of all the running clubs in the area, many families with children and even a number of marathon runners, who managed to complete 21 laps of the track and accumulate the distance of a full marathon.
