Summary - Evacuation of the Navy base from the city of Haifa:
The Navy controls the heart of the Bat Galim neighborhood with a large base known by everyone as the "Bahad." The intention of the planners at the municipal and national level is to remove the Bahad from the city of Haifa and free up the prestigious and expensive area for the residents of the city. The area of the Navy Yard includes a magnificent sea front as well as proximity to Rambam's important real estate areas. In recent years, the architect Benny Izak has planned a plan for the neighborhood which will be built on the site of the vacated Navy Yard. The plan for the evacuation of the BHD was prepared by the architect Izak at the request of the Israel Land Administration, but remained frozen until the evacuation of the BHD and the liberation of the area. In the past year, the Haifa municipality has been promoting a plan to clear the sea front of the Navy Yard, in order to allow a scenic promenade that will extend from the western port, around Rambam to the southern beaches of Haifa. As part of the agreement with the Navy Yard, the Municipality of Haifa will receive a strip several tens of meters wide on the seafront of the Navy Yard, for the benefit of the Haifa public. The evacuation of this strip constitutes the first and important chapter in the transfer of the area of the Navy Yard to the public in Haifa.
