שThe French Carmel is located in the northwestern part of the Carmel Ridge. In 1769, the French consul helped establish the Carmelite monastery in this neighborhood, hence the neighborhood's name. To this day, the monastery operates in the neighborhood and in addition to it, the church has many lands in the territory of the neighborhood. The monastery is on the side of a mountain and has a beautiful view of the bay and restaurants, which attract tourists to the area.
In the last 5 years there has been an active Chabad community in the neighborhood, headed by Rabbi Yehuda Ginzburg. Residents also enjoy a commercial center, called the Stella Maris Center. In addition to the restaurants, the neighborhood also has a bakery on Tscheranhovski Street, which, along with the residents, is also enjoyed by the students from the nearby Gordon College and the students studying at the Leo Buck School next to the bakery. In the afternoon and evening you can see dozens of residents in the yard Cafe "Carmel French Wine".
Education
There are several schools in the French Carmel neighborhood. On Tscheranhovski Street you can also find an elementary school - "Tscheranhovski" and the youth division.Leo BuckLeo Buck High School is also located in the neighborhood. The Leo Buck school also accepts students from Ramot Elementary School in Sheprintsk. The Leo Buck private elementary school is also located in the neighborhood.
It is located on Tscheranhovski Street Gordon Academic College of Education. In recent years the college has had great success and the number of students has increased greatly. As a result, parking problems arose in the neighborhood during the school period. Now the college is trying to reduce the problem by creating more parking.
The French Cultural Center is also located in the neighborhood, on whose territory is the Krieger Center andthe warrior's house (Sports Center for the IDF Disabled).
Real Estate
A 3-room apartment in the neighborhood is sold for about one million NIS. The price of a 5-room apartment is around 2.1 million NIS. Construction evacuation projects are planned in the neighborhood in the coming years. What makes the neighborhood attractive to many is that the neighborhood is located on the west side of the city, so air pollution is reduced. From the upper floors of the towers you can see the sea about 250 degrees, because the neighborhood is located on the finger of Carmel. In addition, the French Carmel has leading educational institutions, which is a consideration for young couples. The neighborhood is close to the center of Carmel, Lahadar and you can quickly get out of it to the coastal road (about 5 minutes to the coastal road when there is no traffic).

Many of the buildings in the neighborhood were built before 1980, which means that projects of TAMA 38 can be done in them. In the neighborhood there are buildings with 3-4 room apartments, most of which do not have balconies. Since the apartments are not cheap, the tenants can benefit from the addition of a room, a balcony, "D or an elevator, and the contractor or developer who can add several apartments and sell them can leave with a reasonable profit from the project. The neighborhood is considered attractive because it has schools that are considered among the best in the city, therefore young couples are looking for an opportunity to live there and increase the value of the real estate.
In addition to the old construction, there are also 3 high-rise buildings in the neighborhood, called "Gev Yam Towers", which were built less than 20 years ago and have underground parking.
In addition to these towers, there are other towers in the neighborhood, as part of large construction clearance projects.
There are 3 military bases located on Tscheranhovski Street, which for over 25 years there has been an intention to evacuate, but in practice nothing has been done. If these bases are vacated, then the area will be able to provide an answer to the parking problem if a parking lot is built in their place or it will be possible to use the area to establish new units in buildings with modern underground parking lots.
Public Transport
The French Carmel can be reached by cable car (up to Stella Maris) from the seaside (at the Bat Galim promenade). This is the second year that Gordon College is subsidizing the cable car ride for students, in order for the students to leave their vehicles at the station and arrive at the college without a vehicle. As of the previous school year, about 100 students used this solution every day.
Recently, a bus line was added, in a joint effort of the student union at Gordon College and the municipality, which shortens the travel time between the Gulf center, the college and the Carmel Beach center.

One of the problems the neighborhood faces is a difficult parking problem. Gordon College is located on Tscheranhovski Street, whose student population has grown in an unprecedented way in the last 5 years. 20 years ago the number of students in the college was small and the number of vehicles parked next to the college was negligible. Today it is a problem that is a serious nuisance to the tenants on the street and the solution is not in sight.
Two event halls are also located in the neighborhood: the Oranim Hall and the Carmel Mansion Hall. When a big event takes place, many guests arrive and the parking problem, which exists even without the event halls, only worsens. When there is a play or other event in Krieger Hall, the streets near the hall are also filled with drivers looking for parking. The neighborhood is not large, but it has many centers of attraction that bring residents from all over the city to it, and currently the Haifa municipality has not presented any infrastructural solution, so that the residents of the neighborhood can park comfortably and easily near their home.
Residents in the neighborhood also complain that a dog park has not yet been established in the neighborhood, and the care of dogs throughout the neighborhood is problematic. There are a lot of dogs in the neighborhood and the sidewalks are not clean.
