The pollution map of Haifa was published by the research team led by Professor Portnov, in March 2016.

למה אין בחיפה יום או שעות ללא תחבורה פרטית?
A mansion neighborhood wrapped and covered in soot
Does anyone know what's up with Neve David in terms of pollution?
The pollution rises upwards, therefore the neighborhoods above the Carmel are more polluted than the lower neighborhoods

Hey
What is the situation in the center of Carmel?
Hello, I am interested in buying an apartment in Neve Shanan, Yaakov Saloman Street. I was told not to approach because the level of pollution in the area is very high. Can you give me an exact answer please?
Hello everyone,
I'm also moving to study in Haifa and looking to rent an apartment.
In any case, I'm thinking about renting an apartment in Asfia, can you tell me if the air pollution in Asfia is significantly lower compared to the cleaner areas in Haifa..?
I am convinced that the "Independence" station reflects the pollution in Bat Galim. I pay attention to the numbers there mainly in the winter in the late evening
and tonight During these hours there is very little traffic there as well. The high numbers are only seen in winds from the east and this explains the fact
that the pollution comes from the refineries and not from the vehicles.
Regarding Sheprincek: although it is geographically close to Bat Galim, there is no air line from there to the refineries and that area is significantly less polluted.
The structure of the bay and the mountain is such that the neighborhoods that are southwest of the Institute for the Study of Seas and Lakes are much more hidden by the mountain from the pollution
coming from the direction of the bay. This is the "round" of the bay when you drive south by car and pass the Eliyahu Cave. . .
Polluted in Haifa? According to Yona Yahav, this is a flower sparrow and slander of the local evil forces.
And seriously: Sha'ar Alia, Morot Shaprintak, Ein Hayam and Neve David are also free from the pollution of the factories. Maybe it's time for them to consider these neighborhoods as an option as well?
Peace,
I see that all the correspondence here is from 8 years ago.
Is the situation similar today in terms of air pollution in Haifa and in terms of the particularly polluted areas?
Thanks
the settlement
I checked the N.C. of the monitoring point in Atzamtu and it is quite far from Bat Galim (located near the court in Haifa) - right in front of the port. In my opinion, that area is both much more congested with traffic and receives quite a bit of pollution from the port. It is a bit of a shame that Bat Galim does not have its own monitoring point, I'm not sure that the monitoring of independence reflects.
By the way, I saw that at the Sheprincek monitoring point (which is not far from Bat Galim) the data is much more sympathetic.

Thanks again for the answer.
בהחלט היה מדאיג לראות את הנתונים על רחוב העצמאות. אתה יודע במקרה איפה ברחוב מממוקמת התחנה? ולמה לדעתך זה משקף גם את בת גלים?
Independence Street is a street with a lot of vehicle traffic (in my opinion, both during the day and at night) and I assume that most of the NOX pollution comes from there. There is a huge difference in the movement of the vehicles between Atzamtu and the small streets of Bat Galim (HaSharon, Nahalel, etc.). Personally, I haven't really had the chance to feel smells here like you smell in the Gulf and Kiryat sometimes, that's why I was a little surprised by what you said.
We've been living here for two years on rent, and the truth is we were quite happy with the place. But in light of what you say, maybe we should really look in another area because we're looking for an apartment to live in and not for investment.
By the way, is there a place where you can see development plans for the neighborhood?
Thanks again
Bat Galim is one of the most polluted areas in Haifa, if not the most polluted!
If you stand in Bat Galim on the boardwalk you can see how close the centers of pollution in the bay are to the neighborhood.
This proximity means that every breeze from the east brings to the neighborhood the smell of refineries, Vulcan junction or whatever
Another evil known from the Gulf.
Winds from the east come from the beginning of autumn until the arrival of spring almost every day!
You can see the level of pollution and be very surprised if you look at the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection at this address Especially at the monitoring station on Independence Street
which is very reflective of Bat Galim. Look mainly at night - this is the time in winter when the wind comes from the east and the pollution on Ha'tsamat Street
He is not necessarily a car.
The direction of the wind can be seen Bat Galim site. There is a complete match between wind from the east and very strong air pollution in Bat Galim. In my opinion the pollution that will be measured is mainly of Nox particles in the pollution table.
Regarding an apartment in Bat Galim, this is already an issue for a separate topic that I will raise in the future and the title will be "a real estate bubble called the Bat Galim neighborhood" . . .
Hey
Thank you
Definitely considering Derech Haim Street.
A question about Bat Galim - I didn't see any reference to it in the report. Is it considered a polluted neighborhood? We are interested here in one of the new buildings that are going to be built..
Hello Mickey,
My name is Mein and I am the air quality coordinator at the "Public Health Coalition"; Environmental organization to reduce morbidity from environmental factors.
You can use several sources of information to compare the different neighborhoods in Haifa:
1. If you want to compare the concentrations of different air pollutants between monitoring stations (for example between monitoring stations in different neighborhoods in Haifa), you can do so on the National Monitoring System website http://www.svivaaqm.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
2. Analysis of air quality data in Haifa Bay, as well as morbidity data in Haifa Bay, you can find in chapters 3-4 of our report "Seeing the future: what is known about air pollution and childhood morbidity".
3. The website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection has tables comparing air pollutant concentrations between different neighborhoods in Haifa and the Gulf in 2010:

The neighborhoods in Carmel facing west are the priority neighborhoods. In these neighborhoods the pollution is minimal.
That is, the neighborhoods: Western Carmel = Sea Road and the area.
Carmeliya, Yarakon Street, Margalit
Mansion - the side facing west.
French Carmel and Ramat HaTshebi are a little more polluted than Western Carmel.
If you look at the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection during the winter, you will see that during easterly winds,
Whole areas in Haifa are more polluted than Bekriot. Mainly the lower city and Neve Shanan.
