Film Festival - October 5 - 14, Sukkot Theater
The 33rd Haifa International Film Festival, produced by Atos Company - Haifa Municipality,
It will take place between the dates 5-14.10.2017 Havm Sukkot.
The festival program this year includes about 200 films premiering in Israel, selected films and winners of the most important festival awards in the world.
As part of the festival, the new films of the masters of contemporary cinema will be screened - Andrey Zbaigantsev, Ennis Varda, Gianni Amelio, Hong Sang-Soo, the Tabiani Brothers, Yorgos Lanthimus, Lucretia Martel, Pan-Ek Rattanaruang, Claire Denny and Raoul Peck. Spectacular restorations will also be presented to mark the 50th anniversary of Buñuel's "Beauty of the Day" and the mythical "Adult", a farewell to Jean Moreau and a tribute to David Lynch, Madness at Midnight, children's and youth films and documentaries on environmental, food and social issues, Sammy Davis G Vanior, Grateful Dead, Om Kholthum, the Armenian Holocaust and the connection between Elvis Presley and today's US elections. The selected, intriguing and award-winning films at the most important festivals in the world will be screened in the various frameworks and international competitions of the festival.
Again this year, the festival will provide a stage and exposure of debut films by new Israeli creators and will hold the "Featured Israeli Cinema Competition". During the festival, 13 new Israeli feature films, 9 new Israeli documentaries and 42 short films and animation films and 10 films by young artists will be screened in the various settings.
Along with the festival, there will be a variety of outdoor shows for the whole family, "Yaldok 2", starting in the morning in the "Gan Ham" complex, which will include amusement park facilities, booths, a trampoline, cars on a sign and more, as well as performances for children with their favorite stars: 8.10 - Yuval Hambalel, 9.10 - Michal HaKtana and on 10.10 Mickey.

Along with the festival, there will be a rich program of events open to the public every evening and will include performances, live music, film screenings under the dome of the sky, an artists' fair and children's activities that will be held in the Mania Shochat Garden, the Mother's Garden and the piazza (the new auditorium square). All the cafes along the ridge and the center of Carmel are open and buzzing with life, until the wee hours of the night.

Neve Yosef Community Theater Festival October 8-10, Sukkot High School
The Neve Yosef community center presents the Community Theater Festival for the 12th year between the dates: October 8-10, Sukkot High School throughout the city of Haifa.
The festival will feature over 40 shows and plays, in community centers all over the city, original productions alongside productions of well-known plays that will be offered to speakers of four languages: Arabic, Amharic, Russian and Hebrew. In addition, on the festival island they will be able to enjoy activities for children, story hours, puppet theater with the participation of the audience, street performances, workshops for the general public on multiculturalism and more.

Exhibitions, open houses, street performances, bicycle tours on the boardwalk, mosaic workshops for children, writers' and poets' evenings and more await visitors to the Sukkot Pavilion. The International Cartoons Exhibition | 4.10.17 – 14.10.17
140 cartoons will be presented at the ongoing international cartoon exhibition
This is the 23rd year in a row during Sukkot as part of the Haifa International Film Festival. This year the competition was dedicated to two main themes:
• Technological innovation
• Parties and celebrations
The 140 cartoons presented in the exhibition were chosen from among 1200 cartoons sent to the competition by 490 cartoon artists from 68 countries from all over the world.
The winners of the competition were chosen after a long process by an international judging panel which rated the cartoons according to various criteria, including the relevance of the message, the drawing technique, originality and uniqueness. In the first stage, the works were sorted by an Israeli judging panel made up of cartoon artists, architects and academics and 50 works were selected in each category. The selected works were submitted to an international judging committee composed of international cartoon artists from Turkey, France, Romania, Colombia, Poland and Israel.
The prizes will be awarded to the winners at the opening of the exhibition which will be held in Sukkot in the presence of Mayor Yona Yahav, public figures, diplomatic representatives of the participating countries, cartoonists from Israel and abroad (the ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 20.10.2016, XNUMX in the auditorium).
The exhibition will be presented as part of the Haifa International Film Festival (auditorium lounge October 4 - 14), admission is free.
