The scene of the interceptor crash in Haifa – Aki Flexer in an interview with Orly Alkalai – 22/6/25

(haipo) – Direct damage to a residential building in Haifa: "A great miracle thanks to civil discipline"
Today (Sunday, 22/6/25), in the afternoon, I arrived at the scene of a crash in Haifa, following reports of an unusual operational malfunction. According to the information provided so far, an interceptor missile launched at an offensive missile from Iran deviated from its trajectory, and directly hit a residential building in the city.

The scene of a missile strike in Haifa – Interview with Kan 11 corporate reporter Orly Alkalai 22/6/25 (Photo: Moshe Fishhandler)

In the filmed interview, filmed by "Live in Film" team member Moshe Fishhandler, Alkalai talks about the challenge of journalistic work during times of security tension, the emotional impact of stories from the field, and also about memories from the years they spent together.

While covering the event, I met a familiar figure in the arena: Kan 11 corporate reporter Orly Alkalai, a longtime colleague of mine from our days working together at the Israel Broadcasting Authority. It was an emotional and human encounter in the midst of a charged situation.

I thought to myself that our audience would be happy to hear the perspective of a senior field reporter who lives this reality every day – and so the interview was born.

Fortunately, thanks to the discipline of the residents who followed the instructions and entered the protected areas, an even greater disaster did not occur. The structure was severely damaged, but life was saved.

While I was at the scene, I documented the activities of Home Front Command soldiers, who worked diligently to extract valuable items from the rubble – photographs, documents, souvenirs – which were carefully handed over to residents who were waiting downstairs with considerable excitement.

  1. It's good that everyone allows themselves to determine, after a few minutes at the scene, who harmed and caused the damage in Haifa...
So here are the facts, after the IDF completed its investigation into the attack.
    Our interceptor caused no damage.
The defense system failed, and an Iranian missile hit the neighborhood directly.

    • Yesterday, the IDF issued a preliminary investigation that an interceptor missile hit. Only today, the army completed the investigation. This is not anyone's personal conclusion, but what the army is conveying to the media.

    • An Iranian missile was supposed to cause a little more damage. !!
P.S. Go down to 19 Palm Street and draw your own conclusions.

  2. Aki and Orly – both nostalgia; and an illusory present. Congratulations on the interview and on an exciting meeting against an illusory but realistic backdrop. Bless you.
