Crazy days are passing us all, as we remember, not only was the playoff final of the state championship in the basketball league stopped following the start of Operation "Am Kalavi" and the fighting with Iran and due to the rocket fire on Israel. The semi-final games of the playoff for the qualification to the national league were also stopped, when in the national league in the northern district, the Maccabi Haifa basketball team was already leading with a score of 0:1 for Haifa to win over the Maccabi Petah Tikva team. A round of games that was supposed to be played as the best of 3 games.
The winner of the series was supposed to qualify for the National Basketball League, so the Basketball Association decided that Maccabi Haifa would advance to the National League along with 3 other teams. It seems likely that the National League in the upcoming 2025/2026 season will grow to 16 teams instead of 15 teams.
The official addition was only approved by the Basketball Association yesterday afternoon, not at the time of writing this article.
Congratulations to the players, to the coach and his assistants, and to the entire team involved in the job. Congratulations to the team managing the team and to Roi Schwartz, CEO of Maccabi Haifa.
Hopefully, the association will be able to raise a worthy and attractive team for the National League.
