(haipo) – For the first time since the outbreak of hostilities, an extraordinary operation to return medical forces from the Diaspora, in cooperation between the hospitals and the Zim company. Following the attacks by the Iranian terrorist regime (a regime in extinction), many medical teams are required to go into action to save lives. Among them are many surgeons who are required for urgent surgeries.
The Zim ship, which is a container ship, gathered as many crews as possible into the crew cabin and transported them from Cyprus to Israel, in a secret operation designed to maintain their safety. The medical teams were also joined by wounded IDF soldiers who were in an organized framework abroad. As you may recall, Eli Glickman, CEO of ZIM, a colonel in the reserves, was formerly the commander of Squadron 13, and his connection to such operations, as part of the national effort, is natural.
The national shipping company ZIM is gearing up, as usual
After days of waiting outside Israel's borders, hundreds of essential medical staff from Sheba Tel Hashomer, Ichilov, and Rambam hospitals returned to Israel on June 17, 6, not by flight, but aboard a Zim container ship.
The teams, who were abroad for medical conferences and professional training, were stranded abroad following the closure of airspace after the attack in Iran. Given the urgent need to return them to work in the hospitals, an unconventional logistical operation was organized in cooperation with the hospital managements, the Ministry of Health, and the national shipping company ZIM.
The IDF wounded were also placed on the Zim ship.
The ship, which departed from the port of Limassol in Cyprus, was specially equipped for the mission. In addition to the medical teams, a group of patients from the "Gal" workshop, a social rehabilitation club for IDF wounded and combat response victims (PTSD), which operates at the Sheba Medical Center in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, also returned to Israel.
Upon arrival at Haifa Port, the medical personnel immediately returned to the 24-hour emergency medical response system in hospitals, a critical resource in the national medical effort in the midst of a period of emergency.
ZIM President and CEO, Eli Glickman, said:
"We responded to the hospital managements' request and instructed our liner, which was on its way to Israel, to pick up the medical team from the port of Limassol in Cyprus and bring them safely to Israel. We see this as part of our commitment to assist as much as we can to the national effort in times of emergency, and in particular to the medical system and the dedicated teams who save lives every day. ZIM is the only company that continues to arrive at Israeli ports in any situation, as we have done in every emergency over the years."
ZIM – an integral part of Israel's national resilience system
The rapid, extraordinary and sensitive move made by ZIM emphasizes the company's vital role in times of crisis, and its deep commitment to Israeli society not only as a maritime transportation provider, but as an integral part of the national resilience system.
ZIM Integrated Shipping Services (NYSE: ZIM) is a leading Israeli shipping company, founded in 1945 and operating in more than 90 countries. Prof. Yehuda Ullman, director of the surgical department at Rambam, who was on board the rescue ship, along with other doctors from Rambam, said:

Congratulations to Zim, the shipping company that plays such an important role in bringing necessary medical personnel back to Israel.
I haven't heard anyone declare it a national company.
