(haipo) -The environmental noise pollution from places of worship, especially mosques, is unusually loud during the Eid al-Adha period, which begins today (June 5-10, 6). Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman is demanding immediate enforcement by the police and instructing district commanders to locate the public address systems in mosques that are causing ongoing noise pollution and to bring an end to the suffering caused to residents.
Minister Idit Silman demands: “The public is exposed to unbearable noise – action must be taken”
The Ministry of Environmental Protection informed Lahi Pa: The ministry conducted measurements, issued warnings, and issued clear opinions according to the Noise Law. Now, enforcement must be carried out by the police.
Following numerous complaints from residents throughout the country about serious and illegal noise pollution from places of worship – and in particular mosques – Minister Idit Silman, on Tuesday morning, 10/6/25, appealed to the Police Commissioner demanding immediate enforcement. The appeal is based on a series of measurements and monitoring conducted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection in various areas of the country, which revealed significant deviations from the legally permitted noise levels.
No steps have yet been taken to mitigate the severe noise.

Idit Silman, Minister of Environmental Protection: “The Ministry of Environmental Protection acts responsibly and with dedication – it conducts measurements, writes professional opinions and transmits all data to the Israel Police. When there is no significant enforcement, the public remains exposed to hazards that harm its health and daily life. This is a serious and disproportionate hazard. In countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia, there are clear restrictions on noise levels, while in Israel the field is open. It's time for the police to act decisively.״
In her letter to Chief Rabbi Daniel (Danny) Levy, Commissioner of the Israel Police, the minister emphasized that according to the Noise Law, the use of amplification devices for prayer purposes is permitted only when it does not cause a hazard. In practice, repeated chants at high volumes, sometimes five times a day, violate the law and cause a continuous nuisance that harms the quality of life and health of residents.
What about neighborhood synagogues that operate a noisy event hall "from the side"?
Turning a quiet neighborhood into an industrial area.
The Palestinian capital is on the way. Yahav is home.
Auto Haifa, the capital of Palestine
One big piece of bullshit!!! The police are doing nothing about it.
Go to Qalanswa and you will hear the loud volume of the muezzin.
In addition, there is an event garden where there is no enforcement regarding loud music.
Minister Silman, you are starting from the assumption that there is a police force in all Israeli cities and that it includes police officers who will act decisively when it comes to their village/neighborhood.
Two assumptions that are inconsistent with reality in the periphery.
Well done Sarah!!! We need to continue!! Turn off their speakers completely, whoever wants to hear Allahu Waqar should come to the mosque themselves, we in a synagogue do not put speakers to disturb all the neighborhoods and cities around us! This is a noisy people who must constantly stand out, so that everyone can see and hear them, a little modesty, a little silence!! Not everything needs to be shouted! You believe in your Allah, believe in him, you don't need to wake up half a country for it! Even within your villages there are people who hate these announcements, move forward, you primitives, we are in 2025! Just because you are used to something doesn't mean it is right, if you as a culture and religion disturb entire population groups and entire cities, it is not right!!!
Not pretty
racists
Sometimes I feel like I'm in a village or in a Muslim country in general. The decibels of prayer are nerve-wracking, no matter what time of day it happens.
But neighbors playing music I don't want to hear before 23:00 PM is that okay? Since it's within the allowed hours, there's nothing I can do. We live close to our neighbors and Israelis are not known for being quiet. I understand the disturbance at 4-5 AM but at other times, just deal with it.
Don't confuse your mind, neighbors who play music are shitty people, but they only bother one person or one building! And you can ask them to turn it down and you can complain, but a mosque that bothers several surrounding towns is not normal!!!! If there was someone who had a party that bothered all the surrounding towns and woke them up at five in the morning, he would have been in jail a long time ago!!
The mosque disturbs several communities and hundreds and thousands and tens of thousands of residents!! The noisy neighbor only disturbs one building, and if there was a neighbor like the mosque that disturbs all the surrounding communities and wakes them up at five in the morning with music, he would already be in jail! It's too bad to be noisy!!
True, as a Haifaite who lives in Kabbir, the noise doesn't bother me at all, the noise of the cars racing in the middle of the night, the crackers that the kids blow up, the motorcycles with the exhausts pressing... This is the real noise nuisance, in any case here in Haifa in Carmel, the mosque is the least disturbing in terms of noise pollution, what does disturb is not treated at all and it's a shame. Or weddings that last all day with music that doesn't stop until 1 am... This is a nuisance, focus mainly on not doing "exactly", Madam Minister, and while Haifa and environmental quality are on the agenda, worry a little but just a little about our air, from which we have nowhere to escape 😉
What, you have nothing to do except look for the noise? You lack nothing to do except that. You're busy with that. It's not nice at such a sensitive time.
And maybe during a sensitive period, mosques should be considerate and stop the announcements over loudspeakers?
Why should only one side of the country always be taken into account?
