Vandalism of Pride flags in Haifa ►Watch

(Live here) – As every year, the city of Haifa is decorated with pride flags that are hung throughout Haifa to mark Pride Month. Last Friday (6/6/25), pride flags were vandalized in the Hadar neighborhood.

Following the vandalism and tearing down of several pride flags hung in the city's Hadar neighborhood, the Haifa Municipality filed a complaint with the police station. The vandalism of the flags was captured on the lenses of municipal security cameras deployed throughout the city.

The Haifa Municipality expressed regret over the incident and made it clear that it considers it a serious vandalistic event that harms tolerance and the public space, and pledged to continue working to hold Pride Month events as scheduled, and to support the city's LGBT community without fear.

Yossi Shalom, Deputy Mayor of Haifa:

"This ugly vandalism will not break us. The Pride flag is not just a symbol of community – it is a symbol of Haifa: a free, diverse and loving city."
Precisely now, at the beginning of Pride Month, we will raise the flag higher – with pride, with love, and without fear.
"On June 27th, we will all march together, Haifa women and men, and it seems that love is always stronger than hate. The gay community is not alone – Haifa with you and for you."

Pride Month in Haifa will take place in June – the public is asked to prepare for roadblocks

The Pride Parade will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025. The parade is expected to attract thousands of residents of the city and the region, and as a result, roadblocks are expected along the parade route and on major thoroughfares in the city - the public is asked to follow the updates and plan their travel accordingly.

  1. This parade is not a national or municipal event and is defiant in the eyes of a large public whose religious beliefs make it wrong and contrary to their conscience.
It would be expected from those who constantly talk about humanism to understand that with all due respect for the externalization of their differences, in terms of embracing humanism and accepting the other and the different, their side suffers from this no less than, and perhaps even more than, the religious movements. In neighborhoods with a religious and traditional majority that is not interested in imposing pride flags, one should avoid defying flags and parades. This is part of accepting the other that the gay public needs to learn no less than what it demands of them.

  2. Why specifically for the Haredim? Just as they should be respected, so should the Haredim be respected. You're absolutely right. I'm tired of all this pride, turning the abnormal into normal, crazy people.

    • 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻.. The terror in your head is not in the best. Find a life without insulting and hurting people

  3. I never understood what the point of pride is. Even if we say it's normal, what's the point of a pride parade? Do what you like without hurting others (and anyone who knows knows how much rape there is in this sector) You're just making an unnecessary provocation

    • In my opinion, to support this population, to tell them that we are with them, that we see them, that we support them, and especially to help those who are still afraid, apprehensive, and ashamed to come out of the closet, to let them know that the entire community, including the "normative" people, will help them and accept them.
Today, there are still parents who have cut off contact with their child because their child is different, different, and not like "everyone else."
When you get to talk to someone from the community, you'll realize what wonderful people they are, you'll understand how difficult it is for them with themselves and their immediate family, and maybe then you'll come out to support them, these adorable children.

    • They need it as a leftist political movement. They show up everywhere it's already disgusting... They don't need a month at all, they're not above us.

    • This is from the musings of your abnormal heart. What is abnormal about a person who wants to live his life as he wants? How does your logic fit with one thing and its opposite in the same sentence - to write that it is not normal but that a person should do what he likes and without harming another - how is it appropriate for you to harm another... Does anyone who knows know how many rapes are in the sector? Where do you know? Did you do a survey? Did you check the police? Hidden medical reports? I would sue you for harming people.

  4. A shocking and outrageous event!!!
I wish they would punish those who, out of sheer ignorance and wickedness, defaced the flags.
When will they understand that we need to let go and that everyone should live and let live without imposing an opinion and without the desire to change.
    How simple!

    • Ronit I don't think you understand. Gays can be proud and happy and everything. Almost no one cares. What's more, people like us are tired of having their "pride" shoved in our faces everywhere. Why do gays get a whole month to celebrate their sexual perversions? It's crazy.

"When will they understand that we need to let go and that everyone should live and let live without imposing an opinion and without a desire to change?" I agree with this sentence, but you came off as hypocritical here. Hanging pride flags everywhere is literally imposing an opinion. After all, Pride Month is a leftist movement. These flags force us to respect these people while they can do whatever they want.

This population doesn't need any more support, not like it used to be hard to be gay. Today, they appear everywhere on the internet: in huge companies, in computer games, on TV, in their parades with their month and now even in the streets. People are fed up with it. I'm in favor of tearing down the flags, representing our wonderful country instead.

  5. Why bother the Haredi community in Haifa? You all know that the pride parades and flags are not in keeping with the Torah worldview. So why anger them? Perform all your ceremonies in areas where the population supports you!
And a Redeemer came to Zion!
After all, you taught us the issue of accepting and considering others. Go to Carmel. Go to university. Go and gather in districts that support your ideas and worldview.
Not in Hadar...there is a concentration of Haredi
    With thanks and blessings
    Good week
    Sarah

    • These are Eritrean boys, not Haredi – there is no need to slander.

They tore up the flags, broke some, threw some in the trash, danced on them and kicked them. They even threw one of them onto the road and clapped their hands every time a car ran over them.

When I confronted them, they cursed at me, called me a "gay lover" and "we'll do what our parents taught us." It was disgusting.

I think a fine or community service for the parents..
