The Haifa Economic Society is embarking on a first and unusual move in the energy field: publishing an international request for information (RFI), in Hebrew and English, to promote an innovative project for treating municipal waste.
The move is part of a strategic transformation recently announced by the company, and includes the integration of advanced technologies such as separation, anaerobic digestion, and gasification - with the aim of placing Haifa at the forefront of dealing with waste and sustainability challenges in Israel.
The facility is expected to handle approximately 1,000 tons of waste per day and will be one of the most advanced and important environmental-economic engines in Israel. The move was formulated in full cooperation with the Haifa Bay Association of Cities for Environmental Protection and is supported by professional teams in the fields of energy, sustainability and environmental regulation, in accordance with the strict standards of the European Union.

Hanan Markovich, CEO of the Haifa Economic Company:
"As part of the vision for establishing the Haifa Electric Company, we aim to turn waste treatment into an economic-environmental opportunity that will save costs and produce electricity. This is a groundbreaking move that connects innovation, urbanism, and sustainability."
Ofer Shani, Director of the company's energy department:
"We are proud to launch an international RFI after months of study and thorough work. This is a call to companies from Israel and around the world to participate in the process and together build a first-of-its-kind facility in the country that will transform waste from a nuisance into a resource and serve as an economic model for a clean and sustainable city."
Dr. Lehi Shahar Berman, CEO of the Association of Cities for the Protection of the Haifa Bay Environment:
"This move reflects strategic thinking for smart and futuristic waste treatment. Cooperation between the authorities is the key to its success and we are happy to lead it with the economic society."
How beautiful! Congratulations to Hanan and Lihia. May you be blessed!
Already going public with RFI at the RFI stage
...and what is Haifa's investment? How much will it cost the public?! After all, there are no free solutions.
