Currently (May 2025), Prof. Ilana Levenberg has been appointed to the position of Acting President of the Gordon Academic College of Education, replacing Prof. Yoel Mansfeld, who served as President.
Prof. Levenberg has been teaching at Gordon Academy for 25 years. Over the years, she has served as a mathematics lecturer and head of the mathematics department in the elementary and secondary tracks, head of the TEACH. M (Master of Education) department, and in other roles such as training engineers and technicians to teach technological subjects. Prof. Levenberg is married and the mother of three sons, holds a doctorate in mathematics education from the University of Haifa, and a post-doctorate from the Technion on changes in the mathematics matriculation exams from the Mandate period to the present day.
As a lecturer, she teaches undergraduate and graduate mathematics students and supervises thesis projects. Her research interests include teacher professionalization, the various ways to train prospective teachers, and the teaching of geometry.
Prof. Levenberg's vision is to encourage awareness among the appropriate population to see teaching as a mission, and to brand those involved in teaching as chosen individuals who lead and educate the next generation. Furthermore, to strengthen Gordon Academy as a community academic institution that offers programs for diverse populations and to continue to provide a response to the children of the region in times of emergency and in everyday life.

Eliezer Weida, Chairman of the Executive Committee:
We congratulate Prof. Ilana Levenberg on her appointment as Acting President of Gordon Academy. Prof. Levenberg brings with her an innovative vision, rich experience, and a deep commitment to quality education. I am confident that during her tenure, the college will continue to break new ground. We thank Prof. Yoel Mansfeld for his tenure as President of the college and his contribution to its prosperity, and wish him success and continued fruitful work.
A very nice woman.
She was my math teacher in high school. Excellent teacher.
In due time, we met while I was working on research in a project to promote science and technology in the Galilee.
I hope you succeed in your new path.
Gordon College looks from all sides on Tchernichovsky Road and France Road like a closed, ugly, anti-urban fortress that doesn't even invite you to walk past it, let alone walk through it... even though it dominates almost an entire hill.
So what is the municipality doing to correct the omission: First of all, Tchernichovsky Street should be, by definition, a continuation of the President Boulevard axis, that is, a mixed-use street where every new building is built above a colonnade with a wide sidewalk and shops at street level. In order not to have a "dead" street. Secondly, the front of Gordon College should also not have gates and a guard post, but shops facing Tchernichovsky Street and between them the entrance path to the college.
Wait, what about all the diagonal parking lots of the buildings there along the road? That has to go too. The street should be a wide urban sidewalk with a tree-lined avenue, as much commerce as possible along the street and on both sides of it instead of the shelved neighborhood plan, a strip of shops on the other side that will have restaurants and cafes that will also serve as the cliff park that will be built in the future.
And the diagonal parking lots along it near Gordon College should be completely eliminated in favor of sidewalks and a bike path between the French Carmel and the Moriah axis. Building an underground parking lot under the stores instead of the base fence would be the alternative solution for parking for the buildings on the other side of the street.
The Haifa Municipality must decide that it wants Tchernichovsky Street to be a true tourist and urban route, along with the monasteries and the public buildings next to it, such as the Gaston Deffer Cultural Center or Gordon College. This way, without much effort, we will have an urban street that will be pleasant to continue walking on after reaching the end of Yaffe Nof Street and the Tishbi Junction, instead of discovering that from there to Stella Maris there is urban wilderness and walking next to a freeway on a tiny sidewalk.
