Unattended candles – Two injured in residential apartment fire in Haifa – morning 16/5/25

(haipo) – Fire in a residential apartment: A 75-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman are in moderate condition with smoke inhalation, in a fire in a residential apartment on Rabbi Meshash Street, in the Neve Yosef neighborhood, in Haifa. A fire investigator from the Haifa station arrived at the scene and determined that candles left unattended on a table were likely the cause of the fire.

From Fire and Rescue it was delivered to Lai Pa:

Early this morning, a report at the 102 Fire and Rescue hotline dispatched teams from the Haifa station, under the command of Rabbi Reshef Ronen Atias, to a fire in a residential building on Rabbi Meshash Street in Neve Yosef, in Haifa.

Team Commander Sergeant Eddie Stern says:

"From downstairs, I noticed flames and smoke on the third floor out of six. We quickly went up to conduct scans as heavy, thick smoke surrounded the house.
Additional crews extinguished the fire in the living room of the house and released the smoke."

Two people who were in the burning apartment and escaped the building independently were evacuated by medical personnel in moderate condition for further treatment at the hospital.

At 04:07, a report was received at the MDA 101 hotline in the Carmel area about a fire in a residential building on Rabbi Meshash Yosef Street in Haifa. MDA medics and paramedics are providing medical treatment and referring a 75-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman in moderate condition with smoke inhalation to Rambam Hospital.
