The Haifa Municipality Tenders Committee today (Wednesday, 14/05/25) elected Attorney Galit Ackerman to the position of Director of the Corporate Affairs Bureau in the Haifa Municipality.
Attorney Ackerman replaces Israel Ben-Shalom, who is set to retire soon.
Attorney Ackerman currently serves as Deputy Legal Counsel for the Haifa Municipality, responsible for administrative law, development and improvement levies, and corporations. In her role, Ackerman was involved in leading significant legal actions that contributed greatly to the municipality's revenues, including handling development agreements, legal support for control procedures, and consulting in the areas of municipal taxation.
Galit Ackerman holds a Bachelor of Laws degree with honors from the University of Haifa, interned at the Supreme Court, and holds an additional degree in English and literature. She brings with her over two decades of legal experience, most of it in public service.
Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav welcomed the appointment and said: "Galit Ackerman is a respected jurist, who has gained rich experience working with municipal corporations and in public service in general. Her professional abilities and deep familiarity with the municipal system make her a natural choice for the position. I am certain that she will perform it with dedication and responsibility, and will contribute to strengthening transparency and proper management in the Haifa Municipality."
