Why is the fountain in Mania Garden not working?
(live here) – Mania Shohat Garden, a green and magical gem in the heart of the Carmel Center, has been a place of rest and tranquility for Haifa residents and visitors to the city for years. But recently, passersby – families, seniors, young people and children – have all noticed one thing that disrupts the tranquility: the beloved fountain in the center of the garden has stopped working.
The sound of babbling water, which once filled the air and created a sense of calm and detachment from the hustle and bustle of the city, has died down. Instead of a gentle babbling and a feeling of freshness, visitors encounter a stagnant, silent pool – a disappointing sight in the heart of the manicured garden.

Anyone who knows Gan Mania knows how integral the fountain is to the experience. It is a central element in the pastoral landscape of the place, alongside wide lawns, tall trees and chirping birds. Many elderly people visit the place every day, some accompanied by caregivers, and they used to sit on the benches in front of the fountain to enjoy the peace and beauty. Families with children, casual tourists, book lovers with a book in their hands and anyone looking for a moment of rest also found a source of peace in the fountain.
Many children used to dance around the fountain, play next to it or simply watch the water flow. For them, and of course for many others, the closure of the fountain is a great disappointment. "We come here every Shabbat, and the children immediately run to see the water - but lately there has been no water, only silence," says a mother, a resident of Carmel. "They are disappointed. So are we."

"We tried to find out from the Haifa Municipality what the reason was for the fountain being shut down. Is this a temporary malfunction? Water conservation? Or perhaps planned maintenance work?
Meanwhile, many residents hope to see the fountain back in operation soon. "It may sound trivial, but sometimes a little thing like the sound of water in a public park is just what you need to relax. And it's a shame it's missing," says another resident who visits the place regularly.
The Haifa Municipality informed Haifa:
This is a unique pump that broke down, so a new pump was ordered to replace it.
The pump will be installed next week.
Kiryat Eliezer on the promenade near the fountain square has not been operating for many years and there is nothing there. The municipality once took care of it and it was so beautiful.
