The Haifa Municipality informed Haifa:

Thanks to the vigilance of the employees of the Haifa Municipality's operational hotline, the municipal patrol team, and the Haifa police station, the fire crews were able to quickly control the fire and locate the suspects.

Tonight (Friday to Saturday), shortly after midnight, a disaster was averted on Yaffe Nof Street in the city, after employees of the Haifa Municipality's operational hotline identified, through the municipal security cameras, a fire that broke out near the Louis Promenade - one of the most touristy areas in the city.

The hotline workers, who were proactively scanning the security cameras, noticed flames and a number of arson suspects, and immediately reported this to the fire department and police. At the same time, the hotlines called the municipal supervision teams to the scene of the incident – and warned the revelers present about the danger, via the public address system.

Within minutes, the combined mobile unit – a municipal inspector and a police officer – arrived at the scene and detained several suspects who were seen nearby. At the same time, another team of Haifa police officers, who were in the area as part of a proactive enforcement activity against motorcycles and noisy cars, joined them and arrested the suspects.

Later, the operational hotline employees identified additional young men fleeing the scene toward a vehicle. Using the security cameras deployed at the scene, the hotlines identified the vehicle's license plate and passed the information on to the police, who were able to locate and arrest the suspects.

Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav: "The professional, rapid and determined response of Haifa Municipality employees from the operational center and the municipal patrol force, together with the Haifa police station and fire services, prevented a serious incident. They demonstrated determination, professionalism and commitment to the safety of residents, and they do so around the clock. This is further proof of the great importance of the municipality's security systems, and the municipal policing system that we are currently establishing. I would like to thank all the partners in the process for their alertness, coordination and cooperation."

Director of the Security Department at the Haifa Municipality, Yair Zilberman: "This is an event that illustrates the great importance of the municipal security system and the municipal control center, which operates 24/7. This event ended, fortunately, without casualties, but it could easily have ended completely differently. All this thanks to the determined, responsible and coordinated work of all the parties on the ground - the Haifa Municipality, the Haifa Police and the Fire Services."

  1. There is a constant riot on the Louis Promenade. Both on weekends, including reckless driving, and for many weeks, the street is blocked for processions of Arab schools from Haifa and the villages who come to take pictures on the promenade and deliberately make noise, block roads, shout, and play music on loudspeakers. The residents of the neighborhood are in danger because the police are doing nothing. It's time to end this. Car convoys only with a police permit, and any such convoy that comes there from schools or gathers on the promenade over 5 people must disperse immediately.

  2. The arsonists are the same criminals with motorcycles and upgraded cars who are constantly rampaging in Haifa... Nochavot.

  3. There is no security and no protection. Lawlessness is rampant throughout Greater Haifa. Crime is rampant in broad daylight and without fear!! Why are there municipal security checkpoints on President Boulevard and in Kiryat Shpinzak, and especially in the Sha'ar Aliyah neighborhood? There is no security. Citizens are trampled and humiliated, and criminals celebrate at every opportunity.

  4. Raful: "H. E. R. B. Y. M., they, S. R. T. N., in the body of the state"
And their return, wound, in nature..

  5. This is an attempt to carry out a mass attack with many casualties!
The perpetrators of the attack should be treated as terrorists and punished accordingly!

  6. Great. Now lock up the idiots who light fires in the street on Passover for the stupidity called "clearing the leaven"

  7. The police released them.
The hand is light on the trigger or the keyboard, not everyone who is suspected is guilty!!!

Stop legitimizing the taking away of our privacy, the fantasy of the state and the municipality to stick a camera in every corner, South Korean style.

Today it's against this or that sector, tomorrow it's against you.

    • The safety of the majority of law-abiding citizens is more important than your or my individual rights. And since impunity is almost nonexistent here, criminals and terrorists run rampant without fear.

    • Ziv, why are you trying to legitimize terrorists?
Today it's the forest, tomorrow it's your house. Closing your eyes and saying no is not what I really see. It's foolishness. And I'm sure the arsonists are not my children.
The time has come to fight both against domestic terrorists and whether cameras should be placed in public spaces to protect women from terrorists.

  8. To the glory of the left-wing protesters who demonstrate in favor of coexistence in front of Beit HaGefen and the Carmel Center.

  9. The promenade and the street that runs along it are debauched. I complained about criminals several times, and by the time help arrived, they had long since left.
A must!!!! There should be a guard with teeth there to deter them from even trying to riot.
I mean the cars and groups that roam around there as they please.
It is no longer safe to walk there.

  10. The municipal policing system was expanded and strengthened during Einat's term, so Yona's words that he is "establishing the system" are yet another pathetic attempt by him to forget its significant contribution to the reconstruction of Haifa!

  11. When will they wake up with us when???
The terrorists we created are the cancer of the country.
You have to uproot them first.
May God protect us from them.

  12. Are the terrorists in Gaza being eliminated?
In Haifa too, it is necessary and obligatory to eliminate terrorists!!!!!
The location doesn't matter, both places are the same.
