(haipo) – An inspector was attacked again as part of his work at the Metro. The Metro ranks second in the country in attacks on public transportation workers. The Transportation Workers' Union: "The disregard for the lives of drivers and inspectors will cost more lives."
A Superbus conductor was attacked today (8.5.25) on Metro Line 1, which traveled from Kiryat to Haifa. In the afternoon, the conductor got on and began to attack the tickets. A couple sitting in the back seat refused to pay and began to curse at the conductor. When the conductor asked them to calm down, the passenger attacked the conductor with kicks. The conductor's threat that he would call the police only increased the violence against him. The conductor got off at the nearest stop with the attackers, and there the attacker picked up a broom and continued to beat the driver. A complaint will be filed with the Haifa Police.
M., the inspector who was attacked, said:
This couple is known to us as someone who regularly refuses to pay. To this day, it has not reached violence. It cannot be that a row on the line will lead to war! I was also attacked a year ago. A passenger who refused to pay attacked me from behind. As long as we board the lines alone and not in pairs like on the Jerusalem light rail - our lives are in danger.
Yossi Ozan, Chairman of the Superbus Visitors Committee (Inspectors):
The police's egregious disregard almost ended in disaster. It is impossible that no police officer arrived at the scene for over an hour (!) and only a Border Police officer took testimony. We will continue to fight for the police to enter the scene.
Itai Cohen, head of the transportation branch for employees:
We are witnessing a worrying increase in violence on public transportation. A 30% increase compared to the same period last year. The metro in Haifa is in dubious second place.
We demand from the Ministry of Transportation – activate the enforcement unit for violence on buses now! Recognize public transportation workers as public employees so that we can punish their attackers accordingly.
The Superbus company responded:
"The company views the incident in question very seriously and strongly condemns any harm, whether physical or verbal, towards public transportation employees and service providers. We are acting resolutely with all the tools at our disposal to assist law enforcement."
While praying for a first-degree relative (!) I boarded the Egged bus on the way to the cemetery. The bus was literally a few dozen gourds short for the trip. I proved to be able to control everything (I happened to have a certificate from the Hebrew community in my hand and other things), and he still gave me a report. I forgive him, because there is someone a little above me who does not forgive for such a thing…
No pity for inspectors
My daughter, a ninth-grade student, received a fine from the inspector, even though she had a valid monthly leave, because she did not use it while traveling.
She explained to the supervisor that she simply didn't have enough time. He saw that she had a month off, but nothing helped and she received a report.
So in general I don't feel sorry for police officers. According to the saying: He who shows mercy to the cruel will end up being cruel to the merciful.
Whoever resorts to violence should not be surprised if it comes back to haunt him.
Free public transportation like in civilized countries…
Violence is unacceptable in every way, but it's time for the inspectors to undergo workshops on appropriate behavior and treatment of passengers. I see them thinking they are police officers. They humiliate, shout, raise their voices, and sometimes they are the ones who are aggressive. Men as women
Very Good!
I had to get off the bus and a police officer stopped me and my son and the bus doors closed on my son's feet, the four-year-old. Needless to say, no police officer arrived at the scene. Any violence they display is justified. They board in groups. People cringe in horror at the threatening sight of their arrival. They choose who to mess with and who to show their muscles. There are many who board and do not attack and do evil on the bus, but they run away. But children, the elderly, women, an innocent man who tied his son's stroller to the back and then validated his ticket and just then they boarded and gave him a ticket.
Send all such violent garbage to prison for at least ten years. They have no place in general society. To prison quickly! But with the legal system in Israel, they won't be punished at all. Crazy
When I address the young people who destroy seats and dirty the floor on the bus, they laugh in their faces. Poor youth who tell on their parents. Shame. Only secret police should patrol buses and the court should impose heavy penalties.
Only significant punishments by the judiciary will create deterrence.
Right now they are free to continue their actions over and over again.
It's become a joke, there's no point in stopping them anymore.
Only negligence and disrespect for law enforcement authorities bring me situations like this.
He deserves to be wise about young children giving them a report or elders
In my opinion, these are people who are not normative (drugged, etc.). The inspectors need to be taught how to deal with such people.
Either involve the police beforehand or after the fact.
And they are usually the ones who ask 0 words first.
Countless times they attacked elderly people or children with shouts and threats.
Give the inspectors weapons. For every curse, a bullet in advance.
Yesss
It sucks, but the way traffic controllers treat people on buses in Haifa is a disgrace.
Giving reports to the elderly and children is fine, threatening and cursing is routine.
There is also an increase in inspectors who are 5 or even 6. It's boring to join a group looking for a living for the lazy. The inspectors are violent and abusive, and even violent in a disgusting and disrespectful way.
So let's not talk about one inspector, or about cases where inspectors beat up an entire public.
Pix to bind.
And where is the police response? Where are they in this whole story? We need officers with black belts in martial arts. As soon as a hooligan falls on such officers, that hooligan will end up in intensive care, and that alone will start to deter.
How many people with black belts would want to work in this job? And if so, and the inspector comes in and sends them injured to the hospital, he will be arrested for beating up one of the coalition's baboons.
A growing phenomenon of minorities not attacking the metro and bus
They make fun of the Arab inspectors. I see this every time an Arab inspector comes in. He knows it's not worth messing with them and doesn't check them. It shouldn't be like that! Everyone who comes in must pay for the trip without any difference.
Who is the inspector being attacked?
Avraham (no, Avner) Netanyahu. I guess a Kahanist like you wants to know if the inspector is Arab so that you don't care.
There should be a security guard on metro trips, not just because of the wave of problematic passengers, but also because of the personal security situation that has deteriorated recently throughout the country and here.
And further: It is better for the driver to also have a weapon for his defense.
Very simple – an undercover police officer. As soon as someone attacks an inspector – handcuffed, brought to a speedy trial and imprisoned with a heavy fine.
The supervisor should have an electric stun gun and not hesitate to use it.
