An electric stove, a megaphone, a shtreimel, a banjo, and even a baby stroller – these are just a small part of the thousands of lost items recently forgotten on Israel Railways. After hundreds of thousands of passengers passed through the train stations during Passover and Independence Day, Israel Railways is launching a special initiative this week: Shabbat Week Losses, with the aim of returning as many objects as possible to their owners.

As part of the special week, the Lost and Found Department will extend its operating hours until 19:00 PM, starting today (Monday, 5/5/25) until Thursday, 10/5/25, at the Tel Aviv Savidor Center station.
Alongside the restitution efforts, Israel Railways joined the "French Intelligence" association and donated approximately 500 items to soldiers in the field that were not found to be needed, including sleeping bags, blankets, neck pillows and books.
Itzik Shitrit, the director of the railway losses department, said: "We gave the armored soldiers hundreds of items that had not been needed for months. Now they will be able to sleep a little more peacefully. The association took care to sort, wash, and prepare the items to give the soldiers as pleasant a feeling as possible. In recent weeks, a request was also received from the field for books, and of course we happily joined in."

Yoram Fedida, project manager at the association, added: "The partnership with the railway was born from the idea of connecting lost equipment with people who need it. From the moment I contacted Itzik, a collaboration was created that has grown even stronger since the beginning of the war. It is not obvious that an organization like Israel Railways invests resources to give back to the community – they deserve a big shout-out for that."
Due to the security situation, the railway emphasizes that priority will be given to the security forces and evacuees from the north and south in locating and returning lost items. To locate a lost item, you can contact the hotline at *5770 or go to the lost items department at Tel Aviv Savidor Central and Central Hamifratz stations.
