Expected changes in traffic arrangements in Haifa: Infrastructure work to bury electrical cables • Sunday 4/5/25

(live here) – This Sunday, May 4.5.25, XNUMX, the Israel Electric Company will begin extensive underground infrastructure work in the city of Haifa. The work is expected to cause changes to traffic arrangements in central areas of the city, but is intended to improve the reliability of the electricity supply and contribute to upgrading the city's appearance.

Large-scale infrastructure works to improve the electricity grid

The Israel Electric Corporation is embarking on a project to bury underground power cables as part of future preparations for increased electricity consumption in Haifa. Beyond a technical upgrade, it is about improving the city's appearance and increasing safety by removing overhead power cables.

The work locations and their impact on traffic arrangements

The work will take place on Simcha Golan and Nahal HaGiborim streets, two major thoroughfares in Haifa. As a result, there may be significant traffic disruptions: lane closures, direction changes, and parking restrictions in areas adjacent to the work. Drivers are asked to prepare in advance for the expected changes and to stay informed of alternative access routes that will be announced.

Duration of work and public preparation

The project is expected to last between four and six months, a significant period of time that will require adjustments from drivers, public transportation, and residents in the area. There may be delays in arrival times to central sites in the city, especially during rush hours. The Electric Company recommends using real-time navigation applications to avoid unnecessary delays.

Coordination with transportation authorities and the Haifa Municipality

The Electric Company is working in coordination with the Haifa Municipality and transportation authorities to minimize traffic disruption as much as possible. However, unavoidable disruptions are expected. The public is asked to be patient and follow the instructions of the signs and dispatchers in the work areas.

Regular updates from the field

During the work period, a public notice will be published regarding the temporary traffic arrangements. The Electric Company undertakes to update residents with ongoing information via municipal media and social media, regarding any changes that may occur in the traffic arrangements.

  1. In your article, you did not report anything about power outages initiated by the electric company during the work, and where, for how long, and how frequent the power outages were!
Why rewrite a message from the electric company without a professional examining the issue in depth?
I live on Nurit Street, and tomorrow we are scheduled to have a power outage of no less than six hours. Who can agree to an outage of such length?
And how many times will we have to be without electricity?

  2. Work nights. And weekends. I'm tired of 'being patient.' I'm out of patience in this place. Disrupt their work so they stop disrupting our lives. What an indifferent city, God forbid.
