(live here) – Following the confusion and panic that prevailed during the Holocaust Remembrance Day siren last week, when people ran to protected spaces... we remind the public that on Tuesday, 29/4/25, and the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, 30/4/25, the sirens of unity will be sounded to mark the Day of Remembrance for the Fallen of Israel's Armed Forces and Victims of Hostilities.
- On Tuesday at 20:00 PM, a one-minute siren will sound. This siren marks the opening of Remembrance Day and accompanies the main ceremonies that will be held across the country, including at the Western Wall Plaza and at military cemeteries.
- On Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., another siren will sound, this time for two minutes, to mark the opening of the official ceremonies on Mount Herzl, in the military cemeteries, in schools and public institutions.
The sirens will be heard via Home Front Command sirens throughout the country, and will also be broadcast on national media. It is important to emphasize: In the event of an emergency, a real alarm will be activated, which is essentially a siren that rises and falls, and is different from the continuous siren of communion.
The public is called to be vigilant, but also to remember the importance of the moment: to stop, to be alone, and to honor the memory of the fallen. On this day, we are all together – in memory, in pain, and in appreciation.
Honking while driving:
Drivers are asked to prepare for the siren, to stop on the side of the road in a safe place, in advance.
It should be remembered that some drivers do not stop, so extreme caution must be exercised when exiting the vehicle.
When the siren ends, you must merge into traffic with caution.
All residents of Israel can stand for two minutes once a year for those who gave their lives so that we can continue to live here in safety. So stand still, salute, or stop your car and express your support for the bereaved families who gave their most precious thing for us. For them, every day is Memorial Day, not just on this day. I have friends whose family was killed saving the lives of people and children in Jerusalem. It's been 23 years, but for them it was like yesterday. They "experience" this every day, and on the eve of the commemoration and Memorial Day, they simply don't function. So stand for two minutes and express your support for the families.
