(live here) – This morning, Saturday, April 19, 4, an unusual natural phenomenon was observed in the Carmel Hatzrafati neighborhood in Haifa. A huge swarm of ladybugs landed on houses, balconies, and windows. This is a seasonal event related to the insect's migration and breeding patterns.

Swarm of beetles on balconies and houses

Residents of the French Carmel were surprised to find their homes covered in thousands of red, spotted beetles. Ladybugs, also known as ladybugs, appeared everywhere – on window bars, planters, walls and even inside houses. This is a rare natural event in its scope, but one that sometimes occurs in the spring season. It originates from the beetles’ breeding process, which begins with the rise in temperatures in April.

An important ecological role for red beetles

Beyond the colorful aspect of this natural phenomenon, these beetles make a significant contribution to the environment. The ladybug is considered a particularly beneficial insect, as it feeds on leaf aphids – aggressive pests that damage garden and edible plants. Therefore, its appearance strengthens the local ecological balance and helps farmers and home gardening enthusiasts. Thanks to its healthy appetite for aphids, the beetle also serves as a natural biological pest control tool.

Spring migration: from balconies to the cool mountains

The phenomenon observed on Shabbat is part of a regular seasonal process. During the spring, the seven-spotted hawks mate in preparation for laying eggs. As the season progresses and the temperature rises, they fly en masse to cooler mountainous areas – such as the Carmel forests – in order to find more comfortable hiding places. When temperatures drop in the fall, they return and descend back to the lower regions. This seasonal migration occurs every year.
