(haipo) – This coming weekend (Friday-Saturday 18-19/4/25), thousands of believers are expected to take part in Easter processions throughout Haifa, which will result in temporary disruptions to vehicle traffic in the city. During the processions, temporary closures will be implemented on the main thoroughfares where the marchers will travel, and drivers are asked to avoid approaching the blocked areas and follow the instructions of the police officers who will be deployed in the area.
The Haifa Municipality stated:
Tonight (Friday, 18/4/25) at 19:00 PM, churches will hold holiday processions to mark "Good Friday," with the participation of thousands of believers.
- The Catholic procession will depart from Ein Dor Street and pass through Emil Habibi Square, Zionist Boulevard, Khoury Street, and from there it will return to the church.
- At the same time, the Orthodox Church procession will go from Persim Street towards St. Luke Street and from there will pass through Zionist Boulevard, descending to Emil Habibi Square and returning to the church on Persim Street.
- The Maronite Church procession will depart from Maronite Alley, and pass through the streets: Sderot Haginim, Ein Dor and return to the church via Allenby Street.
On Saturday, 19/4/25The churches will hold a joint procession to mark the "Receipt of the Holy Light," with the participation of approximately 5,000 believers.
- The procession will leave at 17:00 PM from the Orthodox Church on Palim Boulevard and will pass through the streets: Haginim Boulevard, Allenby Street, and from there it will return to the church.
Traffic blockages in the city:
Traffic congestion is expected during the parades - Ein Dor Street will be blocked from all directions in a "breathing" blockade, Zionist Boulevard will be blocked towards HaGefen Street, Plaim Boulevard towards Haginim Boulevard, Allenby Street will be blocked from the Meir Intersection, and Persim Street will also be blocked to traffic.
Drivers are asked to be patient and follow the instructions of the police officers who will be directing traffic at the scene.
