Reuma Weizmann, who was the wife of the seventh President of the State of Israel, Ezer Weizmann, passed away this week (Tuesday, April 15.4.2025, 99) at the age of XNUMX.
Reuma Z"l will be buried today (Thursday, April 17.4.2025, 17) next to her husband President Ezer, her son Shauli, her daughter-in-law Rachel, and her daughter-in-law's parents Yolanda and Amram Chimi Z"l at 30:XNUMX PM in the Or Akiva Cemetery.

Rauma was born Rauma Schwartz in London, England, in 1925 to a Zionist family - her parents Rachel and Zvi Schwartz were among the founders of Mapai and the Faculty of Law at the Hebrew University.
Her family immigrated to Israel and settled in the Rehavia neighborhood of Jerusalem. At the age of 9, her parents sent her to be educated at Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek, and she also underwent agricultural training at Kibbutz Nir David and studied teaching at the Kibbutzim Seminary in Tel Aviv.

Reuma worked at a children's home in Hamburg, Germany, which belonged to the Jewish Agency and the Red Cross. She worked for over two years with young children who were actually refugees from World War II.
In the army, she served in the Women's Corps as a clerk at the Government Press Office. Reuma and Ezer Weizmann were married in 1950 at the home of Ruth, who was the sister of Reuma and Moshe Dayan. Throughout her life, Weizmann volunteered at the Children's Hospital where she cared for deaf children,

When Reuma Weizmann was the wife of the President, during the tenure of her husband Ezer Weizmann between 2000 and 1993, Reuma would join the President in visiting wounded IDF soldiers, bereaved families, the unemployed, and residents of the confrontation line. Reuma Weizmann was a woman of many deeds and worked for many years on behalf of children with cancer and for the absorption of immigrants.

Rauma and Ezer Weizmann had two children, Shaul and Michal. Shaul Weizmann was seriously injured during his military service as a paratrooper in the War of Attrition in the Suez Canal in 1970.
In 1991, Shaul was killed in a car accident on the coastal road. In 2005, President Weizmann passed away – and a year later, a day before the memorial ceremony marking the anniversary of his death, she was hospitalized at Beilinson Hospital.

President Yitzhak Herzog paid tribute to Rauma Weizmann:
"Michal and I mourn the passing of Reuma Weizmann - a friend of our family for decades.
"She was a first lady in the full sense of the word, both in the political and international aspects and in the internal-social aspects in Israel, and always with an open and alert eye and a wide heart. Personally, Michal and I say goodbye to Raoma, whom we loved, whose presence was for us a model of beautiful, upright, gracious Israeliness, and a real source of inspiration."
