(live here) – Prof. Avraham Lorber, director of the Pediatric Cardiology Department at Rambam and one of the leaders in the field of pediatric cardiology in Israel, has passed away. The man who repaired hearts – his heart stopped beating. His funeral will take place today, 17/4/25 at 15:30 PM at the old Hof Carmel Cemetery in Haifa.
Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital - Rambam, said goodbye to one of its central and beloved physicians - Clinical Associate Professor Avraham Lorber, Director of the Institute for Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Defects in Adults. Prof. Lorber, who stood at the forefront of the field of pediatric cardiology for decades, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, medical innovation, and a deep commitment to the health of children and adults with heart defects.
Prof. Lorber was an expert in pediatrics, cardiology, and pediatric cardiology, and specialized in clinical diagnosis and treatment, as well as in performing complex catheterization treatments for congenital heart defects - a field in which he was considered a pioneer and leader at the national and international levels.
In addition to his senior position at Rambam, Prof. Lorber was an initiator and partner in establishing the "Children's Heart" project - an extraordinary venture of a mobile pediatric cardiology clinic, which reached medical centers and community clinics throughout the north. In this way, he succeeded in bringing advanced medicine even to children far from the major centers, with a deep commitment to medical equality and accessibility.
Prof. Lorber believed that medicine has no borders. Over the years, he promoted the involvement of the institute he headed in humanitarian treatment of people with congenital heart defects from neighboring countries, often crossing physical and mental borders, out of a deep human mission.
Beyond his clinical activities, Prof. Lorber was also a central figure in academia: a clinical associate professor at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, and a graduate of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. His research areas included invasive diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, the application of innovative technologies, and the study of genetic arrhythmias. He also served as a teacher and proctor of invasive cardiology in developing countries, where he mentored a new generation of physicians.
Prof. Lorber's death is a great loss to the healthcare system, but his work will continue to beat in the hearts of the thousands of patients and colleagues to whom he dedicated his life.

One of the most ardent professors I knew is a great loss... sensitive, gentle, professional, humane, with good manners and a good heart. I simply don't know what to do since then... I have a heart defect and I have two sons. A month and a half ago we were with him... Baruch Dayan, may he rest in peace.
With deep sorrow and a heavy heart, I say goodbye to Professor Avraham Lorber, a dear doctor and a rare person. Prof. Lorber was much more than an expert cardiologist. He was a figure of confidence, humanity, sensitivity and wisdom. For years, he accompanied me with dedication, irreplaceable professionalism, and above all, true care. He knew how to listen, explain, strengthen and, above all, give hope. The loss is unbearable.
Thank you, Prof. Lorber, for everything you have given.
May your memory be blessed.
Professor Lorber is one of the most sensitive, humane and professional doctors we have known. He agreed to treat my husband even though he was no longer considered a child, because he understood the sensitivity and concerns. A special person, pleasant and unique in every way.
The news of his departure from our midst deeply saddened us. May his memory be blessed.
I am in shock.. We came to Israel because the House of Councils told me I had a heart defect that required surgery. When I went to see Professor Avraham Lorber, he diagnosed that the defect was very mild and only required monitoring. Thanks to him, I did not need any medical procedures. Professor Avraham accompanied me my whole life. Today I am 33 years old. I was supposed to come to him for a check-up after I gave birth. And that's how I found out that he had passed away. May his memory be blessed, he was a pleasant, smiling and professional man!
We are deeply saddened by this loss. We had the privilege of working with him over many years and always valued his medical expertise and his dedication to patient care. He was a respected voice in the field of interventional cardiology and will be remembered with great appreciation. Thank you from his friends in cardiology in Germany.

Dr. Lorber, a doctor with all his heart, accompanied my child from the moment she was born, supported, calmed, made her laugh. I have no way to explain how much of an anchor he was for us. We are all saddened by his passing. I have no doubt that he will go directly to heaven thanks to the thousands of souls he saved. May his memory be blessed.

So sad to hear the bad news. He took care of my home with dedication from the day he was born for almost 30 years. A great loss. May his memory be blessed.
An amazing doctor, kind, professional and thorough, and an extraordinary person. He saved my father in his youth, and later took care of my baby. May his memory be blessed.
Of blessed memory.
I have heard many good things about Professor Lorber.
It's a shame he took the vaccine.
As someone who accompanied the final journey of this amazing man, it's a shame that you choose to answer in such a stupid way and make a complete fool of yourself.
Angel in human form
Of blessed memory!
A doctor from our neighborhood and above. He treated my son for years.
Professor Lorber was an exceptional doctor and an exceptional person. He treated a birth defect professionally and with great care.
He saved my life.
I am 55 years old, when I was in the regular army 37 years ago, he would come as a reserve doctor to the Golan Medical Center where I served as a paramedic. He would receive soldiers and men at the clinic. I remember him as a kind-hearted, very professional, humble man. May his memory be blessed.
May his memory be blessed. He saved our grandson 16 years ago.
