The Haifa movie theater scene, as they say, isn't really a scene,
It is more a part of the routine conduct of every Haifaite with a diploma.
And what is this supposed to mean, the wise, the naive, or the one who does not know how to ask will ask.
"I'll give you an example," you say to him, pleasantly and calmly, so that his mind doesn't panic.
Imagine that you need a blood test, and you are sent to the health insurance company's lab.
And there they will take a stab at your health, which you have probably neglected.
The results sheet you receive will have a section that is only understandable to the hypocrites.
Section 'K', which means cinema. And that's only for those who understand.
There will, of course, also be an explanation, as is customary and accompanies every stab.
An explanation that says what is appropriate, what is less appropriate, and what requires study and examination.
And in the section detailing the result, there will be an explanation for the frightened subject.
Visiting the cinema one to four times a month is the required and acceptable range.
Less than the normal limit and you are in the upper dangerous range.
And that means, as a first aid, you should already be in line for 'May' or 'Mayon.'
Of course, the doctor will explain, don't exaggerate. Book a ticket and show up early.
In 'Amphi', in 'Aura', in 'Atsmon', in 'Par', in 'Domino', or in 'Ron'.
There is no doubt that the busiest street is Prophets Street.
Ben Porat Yosef, five movie theaters glorify him.
First of all and at the beginning of the street, the 'Pear' cinema and its painted walls.
Next is 'Palace', with a roof that opens up to the glory on hot summer days.
After the main post office, he is haughty – 'Atsmon' does not know and does not understand how Trinity and Bambino, with a smile and a wink, subdue all oppression.
A few steps away are two small, modest and unpretentious theaters, 'Miron' and 'Gal-Or', whose speciality is daily performances.
The street curves to the right and goes up to Herzliya until it reaches 'Orion', where our acquaintance Bruce Lee stars, who with a precise kick subdues any thug.
And there are many more good ones, from the Hadar Cinema in the Wadi Salib neighborhood, through Ein Dor in the lower city on the German side - the colony.
And there is 'Shavit' and 'Moriah' and 'Ron' adjacent to the colorful market that is Talpiot, where we saw the good, the bad and the ugly with Clint, built for Talpiot.
There we heard the immortal saying: “When you have to shoot – shoot! don't talk”
This is what it's like when you're friends with the silent hero whose direction button is stuck on "don't talk"
On Saturday night, Prophets Street is so crowded and bustling that it is difficult to make your way through the crowd.
And even the Iron Heroes won't help you, even if their official nickname is - Palace Commando.
The lines at the box office are getting longer, and people are looking at their watches, rolling their eyes as if conjuring a spell.
They are wondering in their minds whether they have missed the trailer for every movie, namely the 'coming soon'.
And today it seems that all the lively hustle and bustle has disappeared as if it never existed.
That's what I thought and was saddened when I walked down the Street of the Prophets recently.
The pepper stalls disappeared as if they were not there, where the prophets and the street pioneers met.
There was no congestion or crowd and the area felt like after the Gospel of Job.
And I have no idea why I needed all these words.
Maybe because I was sad and poured out my bitterness on the sheet.
And maybe because I saw the shops deserted, and the 'palace' disappeared
There was a man who made a living telling stories and suddenly his mouth became mute.
And with him and all his friends, who are intertwined with history and countless stories.
And maybe it was the nostalgia that often deceives me and elaborates on every detail.
And on second thought, maybe it was the store owner.
Who sat with me, talked about the past and mourned the reality.
And that same guy, a yoke of days, who knew other days and times
It made me exaggerate and cry with him the memory of my youth.
You described it well. I was born in Hadar, in the center of Hadar, in the run of the prophets. And you did describe the situation well.
😥😥😥
Yes, a world has disappeared, that's what the "wise" matron took care of. It's called more figuratively...
The Carmelite was beautiful, why did you leave her abandoned and broken?
The forceful and stupid burial hurts!!!!!
Respect??? You earned respect on the other side….
Oh, I hope someone will pick up the gauntlet and restore our cinemas and areas to their former glory.
Why are there so many chronic diseases?
With all the grandeur and glory attributed to conventional medicine
Blood tests look for excesses and deficiencies
and not to disease-causing agents
And in addition, the blood tests are not thorough, they only reach a superficial level.
In an acute situation, you can see what the causes are
There are enough parameters in the blood, whereas in a chronic condition where most diseases are found, there is not enough material to diagnose the cause of the problem.
Yitzhak Happy Holidays, wonderful writing, you took me back 40 50 years, what a beautiful and innocent time, we would wait every Saturday night to come from the Kiryat to see a movie in one of the cinemas, and after the movie, eat pepper, walk the streets of Hadar Herzl, HaNeviim, HaChalut, and return home on the last bus, we would also come to Haifa every Wednesday to do shopping, it was an experience to travel from the Kiryat to Haifa, my love. Haifa, a beautiful coast
Haifa residents continue to mourn the destruction of the city center by the Grand Canyon and the Gulf Crossings.
But from what I've seen on Passover, people flock to all the malls and don't hang around the city center to revive it.
So please -
Put your shekels where your mouth is…
If you mourn Haifa's fading city center, go shop there and sit in restaurants there so it doesn't wither away just like you did in Talpiot Market to revive it a little.
I wish it were as simple as you say.
The movie theaters in "Hadar" were replaced by those in "Grand Canyon" and the like... but the excellent Haifa "falafel" in the Haifa "Palace" - no one has replaced/replaces/will replace = in the past/present/future = excellent Israeli falafel!!!!! = Recommended on every visit to "Navi'im/Hadar" @😂
Exciting… I remember my days as a “student” in “beautiful Haifa”… This is how I loved to spend my time, in addition to the “folk dances” at the university… With the highlight: “Student Day” at the “Technion”: dancing until the morning + movies….! = Days of the “pure” State of Israel @
🙏☺️🤗✨️😭
🙏🙏🙏
You wrote wonderfully.
I remember vividly childhood memories, a beautiful time, the innocence of youth, first loves, school showers, watching a movie in secret, falafel during lunch break from school, and just like that on a bench in the park, near the May Cinema.
The fun of youth and the joy of bringing back such pleasant memories for me.
Thanks Rachel, great to hear.
I am not a fan, I was not a fan, but the passion for cinema was shared by most of us.
Cinema was the ultimate pastime for singles, budding couples, and the whole family.
As a child, I went with my father to a rooftop cinema to watch the film Ben-Hur.
And your writing is wonderful, there is so much life in your descriptions. Thank you
Thank you very much🙏 Appreciate
¨
Thank you🙏
You reminded me of forgotten memories. I was 16 years old, every weekend I would come to the ironworks of Armon on my motorcycle. An almost regular meeting…
There were times…
Yes, there were times.✔
Yitzhak, you are a blessing, happy holidays
Thank you very much 🤦♂️Happy Holidays
Oh oh what sweet memories of Haifa's past from the days when little was a lot... when the country was young and wonderful and full of hope. How we loved going up to Hadar. Walking through the shops, going to the movies, eating falafel. I also remember the days of independence in Hadar... We danced on Hora Street drunk with pride and love for the country...
Thank you Haim for a sweet memory.
Why live…?….😇 Isaac
Movie theaters were an escape from the everyday reality where before visiting you ate a plate of pepper and when the movie ended you ran to the bus so as not to miss the last one.
correct
well done !!
Thank you
And there was also the 'Carmel Ganim' cinema, on whose ruins the City Center on the corner of Yafoi Ben Gurion is built. There I saw the first karate movie in my life. And I also remember an Indian and a Turkish movie. And there was also the 'Haifa' cinema on Anilevich Street, right across from the Moriah Military Academy School. Since it was a neighborhood cinema (which was closed due to the "invasion" of television into homes), there is no photographic documentation. I didn't get to enjoy it much, but one film that stuck in my memory was 'Target Tiran' (the operation to blow up the Egyptian radar on the island of Tiran at the mouth of the Red Sea, before it was occupied by the IDF in the Six Days).
👍
We are happy that you are able to bring them back to their innocent childhood days when a trip to Kolnea was a highlight.
🙏🙏🙏
