(Live Here) – Our Money – This week we reported here on the settlement agreement between the Haifa Municipality and Deputy Mayor, Ms. Sophie Nakash, regarding the defamation lawsuit that Nakash filed against Kalish and the Haifa Municipality. The lawsuit was filed after the Haifa Municipality, under Kalish’s leadership, conducted an investigation against Nakash, when she was her political rival and defamed her good name (there is no dispute about that at all).
Kalisch, as you may recall, received protection from the Haifa Municipality, even after she had finished her duties, and thus the municipality remained the sole defendant in this case.
Opposition members submitted a motion for resolution this week calling on the municipality to withdraw from the agreement and fire everyone involved, due to the conflict of interest, which they claim affects those who signed this compromise agreement, which will transfer NIS 450 of taxpayer money to the city.
The motion for order submitted this week:
In Honor of: Mr. Yona Yahav, Mayor • 9/4/25
Through Ms. Bracha Sela, Senior Assistant to the Municipality's CEO
Subject: Eliminating leaven. Cleaning the stables and the house for Passover.
He was informed of the compromise agreement (signed on behalf of the municipality by the legal advisor to the Haifa Municipality, Attorney Yamit Klein) between Deputy Mayor Ms. Sophie Nakash and the municipality, according to which the municipality must pay NIS 450000 to Ms. Sophinekash.
This is an agreement that is a legal failure, tainted by suspicion of abuse and the status of the plaintiff and the defendant's representatives, who, according to suspicion, sent their hands into the public coffers and from there into the plaintiff's private pocket in an illicit relationship.
Allegedly a serious conflict of interest, contrary to the prohibition in the Municipal Ordinance against suing the municipality and/or being in a conflict of interest in any matter that may result in personal benefit.
The decay in the management of the Haifa Municipality by its senior officials is also a moral and ethical decay that is being exploited by unbridled officials.
Don't you understand that there is a substantial conflict of interest between the plaintiff and Attorney Yamit Klein, and it appears that the plaintiff is allocating the legal advice budget?
How is it possible that you don't see the suspicion?
Is it possible that you know and see that it just doesn't bother you?
Our urgent proposal is:
1. Hold an extraordinary city council meeting and invalidate the arrangement.
2. Demand that Mayor Yona Yahav fire all those involved who harm the municipality's reputation (we didn't write "good name" because there is no good name).
3. Dismiss the legal advisor and, above all, request that the agreement be invalidated and the municipal treasury and the municipal administration be saved, for fear that anyone who lends a hand in implementing the agreement is, at the very least, publicly corrupt.
Wishing you a true Freedom Day,
Attorney Yaakov Borovsky, member of the 'Connected to Haifa, Our Home' faction
Tatiana John, Chairwoman of the 'Connected to Haifa Our Home' faction
Artyom Kharchenko, member of the 'Connected to Haifa Our Home' faction
The best thing that happened to "Connected to Haifa" in general and to the residents of Haifa in particular is that Yaakov Feingold was not elected to the city council, and what happened to Kiryat Haim, which starred in the freedom slogan of "Connected to Haifa"?
The puzzling story of paying compensation from public funds is a scandal that characterizes the flawed mentality that has become normalized at the top of the municipality.
Has damage of about half a million shekels been proven to have been caused to the council member?! What was the basis for this outrageous amount?! The mayor approves a monstrous payment to his deputy, public money from the municipality's coffers at the expense of the residents!!
There is a great stench emanating from this story.
It is also impossible to ignore the many illegal procedures carried out by the Municipal Engineering Directorate, in the industry of lies that accompanies the approval of building permits in applications under TAMA 38. These approvals are based on a defective infrastructure backed by false statements by the municipal engineer, Eng. Y.S., statements that are willingly supported by the local committee's attorney, Adv. S.W.
Colombia is here!!
You're right!! Haifa has become Colombia!!
An unparalleled scandal!
Attorney Yamit Klein is leaving after costing taxpayers tens of millions of shekels in municipal failures in a variety of areas that the legal advisor was supposed to warn against and prevent economic and legal failures. The record high is that the legal advisor turned a blind eye or surrendered to the dictates of the previous mayor regarding the employment of an external CPA, but no one there paid any price for it and was not fired. They are taking public money to compensate for the failures that they themselves did not prevent. Unbelievable.
Attorney Klein will pay the illusory settlement out of pocket.
