The attack occurred during a public reception at the city hall, after the forester refused to issue a contractor a permit to enter the area for a construction project.
Avi Nevo, who has served as the Haifa Municipality's municipal forester for 20 years, was attacked a few days ago by a construction contractor after he refused to issue the contractor a permit to enter the area of a construction project on Hananiot Street in the city.
The construction contractor demanded that Nevo approve the start of the work, even though he had not provided all the required permits, which included, among other things, a commitment to protect the trees in the public area adjacent to the construction site. After Nevo refused to approve the work until the required permits were received, the contractor became angry and kicked Nevo hard in the leg.
Following the incident, the head of the operations administration at the Haifa Municipality, Ohad Dorfman, emphasized that the Haifa Municipality views the incident very seriously and made it clear that there will be no compromise regarding upholding the law and protecting municipal employees and the public space. Dorfman also noted that the municipality will work with the Israel Police to bring the attacker to justice.
This forester systematically harasses permit applicants. Construction of a forest management center was delayed by six months because of one tree.
Violence is unacceptable, but rumor has it that it depends on who asks and how...
The man (the forestry official) has developed a reputation for being a man who abuses people who need his permission. Of course, we must protect every tree, but we can also do this in a pleasant way and with proper explanations to those who request permission, and not by being rigid and rigidly entrenched behind bureaucratic procedures.
Violence against a public servant is serious and prohibited.
At the same time, the forestry official unnecessarily makes the lives of contractors and citizens miserable.
In our case, he endangered our lives by refusing to approve the felling of 3 dead trees at the request of a construction contractor on President Boulevard. He demanded that the tenants who made impractical bureaucratic demands fill out an incomprehensible form. Even calling 106 did not help. The result. On the stormy night of December 24.12.2023, XNUMX, one of the trees fell on his head. Human lives were endangered and property was damaged. A complaint was filed with the municipality. They didn't even bother to answer. The world is as it is.
Every contractor only sees real estate and the bank account.
A good brat did not give any protections. He had to submit everything that was required and he did not bring everything, so he did not give him permission to enter the construction area and he attacked him. What is this about bullying? He must apologize well, all the processes have been completed until he is treated.
Just a few days ago it was written that they are going to cut down thousands of trees in the Haifa municipality. It doesn't match the slow cutting activity that is mentioned here. A complaint to the police is mandatory. And the contractor is rude.
Don't work with this contractor anymore.
Let them see and see.
