Last week, 9-13/3/25, a 5-member delegation from Germany arrived in Haifa, led by the Secretary of State of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, whose capital is Düsseldorf, a twin city of Haifa. This state is the most populous state in Germany, with over 18 million inhabitants, the fourth largest in terms of area and has the highest regional gross domestic product in Germany, at approximately 840 billion euros.

According to Rani Bender, chairman of the Haifa Economic Society:
After a long period in which delegations did not visit Israel, we are proud to host a significant delegation from Germany. The potential for cooperation between Nordrhein-Westphalia is great, and I believe that we will soon be able to begin cooperation that will advance the region in general and the city in particular.
Representatives of the delegation sought to learn about the activities of the economic society, and the impact of the war on the city and its businesses. Chairman of the Economic Society, Rani Bender, and Hanan Markowitz, CEO of the society, presented to the delegation the uniqueness of Haifa, its achievements, and the economic society's businesses. Among other things, the activities of Matam Park, the Science and High-Tech Park, the Hi-Center Company, the stadium, and future plans for Haifa's economic development were presented.
The members of the delegation were very impressed by the city's data and development plans, and even admitted that they were not familiar with Haifa and were very pleasantly surprised. The parties agreed to explore cooperation options and to stay in touch with the delegation's local office located in the central region.

Hanan Markowitz, CEO of the Haifa Economic Company:
Haifa is a city that combines a unique fabric, combining academia, medicine and high-tech. One of the main tasks of the economic society is to increase the supply of jobs in the high-tech sector, retain and encourage the settlement of young people and quality human capital in the city. Our goal is to make Haifa a gateway to fruitful international cooperation.
Congratulations to Mr. Rani Brand, Chairman of the Haifa Economic Society, who took care to host the guests from abroad. Continued a lovely evening.
