(live here) – Visitors to the Haifa Mall are warning that there is a serious safety hazard in the access area from the parking lot to the mall space, and that despite repeated requests, the problem is not being addressed.
These are chains intended to block the passage of vehicles, but in practice they also block the passage of pedestrians.
David Friedman, a civil engineer by profession who regularly visits the mall, told Live Science that he has noticed time and time again that the situation creates a particularly dangerous obstacle, especially for vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and people with disabilities, who may encounter the barrier and trip.
Aside from the physical inconvenience, Friedman claims that the chains are almost invisible in the evening or in poor lighting conditions – a particularly serious problem when it comes to parking lots, where the lighting is already inadequate. The risk of collisions, falls, and injuries increases significantly in these conditions.

Friedman says he contacted the mall management and even suggested solutions that would ensure pedestrian safety, such as blocking only the road while leaving pedestrians free to pass, or placing more friendly barriers. Despite his requests, he says, the problem has not yet been addressed.

The mall management responded: "The issue will be examined and addressed so that the pedestrian crossing will be clear. Thank you for your inquiry and attention."

I hope that the authorities concerned with the safety hazard at the Haifa mall will take action to address it before a disaster occurs, God forbid.
Look at the picture, how disgusting, disgusting and scary this place looks.
Why do people do this to themselves? Don't come to this mall, they'll renovate the terrible parking lot.
Hello, the article speaks for itself. A mall receives an operating license and must bring an accessibility certificate. I don't know an accessibility consultant who would give his signature to a parking lot with such an obstacle!!! Even a healthy person can encounter a chain when trying to get to the mall. Let alone an elderly person or someone with visual impairment. The fact that no lawsuit has been received to date is just a miracle!
There were times when I passed through the area and almost tripped…
We contact the mall management and instead of immediately removing the obstacle blocking the sidewalk, they add a fire hose to the chain as if that will solve the problem they created.
It is clear to any reasonable person that the sidewalk that constitutes a refuge must be accessible!!! and not blocked by chains.
