(live here) – Residents of the Ramot Remez neighborhood in Haifa are complaining that the steps leading to Fichman Street in the neighborhood have been in the dark for a long time, despite their repeated requests to the municipality. According to the residents, about a year ago the municipality did respond to the requests, trimmed the vegetation that blocked the light and replaced a broken light fixture – but the light fixture only worked a few times and has not worked since.
"We are desperate," say the neighborhood residents, especially those who live near the stairs or use them regularly. "We have been asking the Haifa Municipality for months to fix the lighting, but to no avail."

One of the residents, who contacted the Haifa system, spoke about the dangers inherent in the current situation: "More than once, people have simply fallen here because they can't see anything. The feeling is of desolation, especially when the darkness is combined with vegetation that covers parts of the stairs. It's not clear to us why the municipality isn't working to fix the defect - all that needs to be done is to trim the vegetation again and fix the lantern."
"Sometimes we as residents have a hard time understanding the municipality's behavior," the resident adds angrily. "We pay property taxes like everyone else, and in return we don't even get the minimum – the ability to walk around safely in the well-lit public space."
The Haifa Municipality responded: "Improving the lighting on the steps leading to Fichman Street, including replacing the solar lantern with an electric lantern, is included in the operations manager's work plan and will be carried out by the end of the month. As written in the question - pruning was indeed carried out on the site, which the municipality will repeat if necessary."

This is what happens when you install LED headlights. They don't have bulbs and there's no way to maintain them. The entire headlight has to be replaced.
The problem of darkness, which is not being addressed by the Haifa Municipality, is starting to feel like something intentional!
And in general, even though there is already lighting, its intensity is very weak. That is also a problem.
It is unclear what the municipality's intention is.
Does the municipality want to jeopardize our personal security?
Or does she want to lock us in our homes? (a kind of lockdown).
Yahav is the worst mayor of all time. Haifa has descended to depths it has never been in, because of him.
He should be thrown home, he's harmful.
A very large portion of the stairs are dark or have 2-3 lights, then 2-3 are broken and entire sections are in complete darkness.
At night, it's simply impossible to go down stairs. I have to use a flashlight all the time and I see others.
But if there was a single dark headlight on the roads, they would immediately run to fix it.
Hahahaha. Samar. Have you ever visited Tadal Alley? The lower half of it is dark. In the past, my son went to throw out the garbage. The lid of the bin was cut (cut by cat and pig feeders). A pig jumped out of the bin. It fell backwards and broke its arm. The municipality installed another lamp next to it at the beginning of the alley on the same pole in the hope that the lower part would also be illuminated. It helped like a charm, and all in order to save installing a lamp on a less accessible pole. I call the alley the Hell Alley. Full of problems. A dangerous jungle.
When did you visit Kibbutz Galuyot and Yarmouk Street?
It's dark!!
Haifa Municipality will start moving.
On our street, the light pole went out. I called the municipality and the electric company, and it was fixed within a day. Don't let up.
Answer me one thing: How can a small city like Haifa – compared to all the big cities in the world – be so helpless? Property taxes with very high values and very low maintenance are a picture of terrible management. I can speak because I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A huge country where just one neighborhood like Copacabana is home to about 10 times the number of residents of all of Haifa. There are no excuses for services that are time-consuming, slow and poorly done. What needs to be done is to work and work well.
What happened to Haifa????
darkness
Parking fines
Rate change
Derailed
A disconnected mayor who is filthy Melanie
Haifa Municipality is just Rahav and not Yahav!!!
The main problem here is the massive pruning required to get the broken cellphone flashlight fixed and then light up the stairs!
In Neve David, the street lighting breaks down a lot.
During Hanukkah last year, there was no lighting in large parts of the boys' garden for days. In a call to the municipal hotline, they were told that it would be repaired only after the holiday.
I told the representative that people are afraid to leave the house because of the darkness and the pigs and his answer was "to show personal responsibility"
Should something like this be reported in the press?
Was supposed to be fired after one call to the hotline
