(haipo) – Several trees were cut down in Kiryat Eliezer. Several residents went public to protest the cutting down.
Tree felling is a sensitive and environmentally important issue. On the one hand, it is essential to preserve trees and even increase planting to help protect the planet and the climate, but on the other hand, diseased or dangerous trees must be treated, and if necessary, cut down. However, it is most important that the process be carried out with full transparency, as required by law.
In accordance with the guidelines of the Forestry Ordinance, the forestry official is required to publish information to the public prior to the entry into force of a tree felling or removal license. This information, as indicated by the Ministry of Agriculture, includes the identity of the license applicant, the location of the trees intended for felling, their type and number, the reason for granting the license, the name of the person granting the license, and its period of validity.
The announcement was intended to ensure that residents are aware of the process before it is carried out. However, many fellings occur in Haifa, which arouse the opposition of environmental activists and residents who demand transparency and clear explanations. This time, the storm arose in Kiryat Eliezer, following the municipality's decision to cut down several trees in the neighborhood.

Residents demand full transparency
According to one resident, the municipality cut down five trees, while the municipality emphasizes that only three were cut down, and with the approval of the forestry official. This is not the first time that trees have been cut down in Kiryat Eliezer, and now the residents are demanding full transparency, advance publication of decisions and a detailed explanation of any future cutting down.
One resident said that no information was provided to residents, and when she contacted a representative from the municipality, she was told that the municipality was not obligated to publish the information - a claim that raises questions about the authority's compliance with the provisions of the law and its commitment to the public.

Vered Hanin, chairman of the Kiryat Eliezer committee, told Live:
"The felling of ancient trees in the neighborhood is carried out without an organized procedure and without transparency, sometimes in a manner that seems arbitrary. When a tree is designated for felling, this must be announced publicly, its condition documented, and the reasons for the decision presented - but in practice, things are not done as required. In addition, there is concern that the felled tree trunks are sold for firewood, which raises questions about the conduct of the city's parks department, and requires a thorough investigation."
Haifa Municipality gave a response to Haifa:
"As part of the work, three dry trees were cut down, not five as claimed. The trees that were cut down were defined as dangerous, and the cutting down was carried out with a permit, after a comprehensive inspection by the municipality's forester. In accordance with the law, the procedure was published in Reshumot and appears on the Haifa Forestry Official's website."

Blessed caring.
If only one millimeter of this concern had been directed at the residents and celebrants of the area before the disaster…
A complaint should be filed with the State Comptroller. This is not the first time that the Haifa Municipality has acted this way and ignored the law. Until a few heads fly, will nothing change? Attention, Mayor.
The forestry official is unfit for his job, Gozzi orders him to be fired immediately.
It has long been proven that the "forestry official" is an employee who has been stuck in his seat in the municipality for many years.
All logging permit activities, both logging and tallow,
He promised long before the elections that he would bring order.
Lol
It will probably be many more years before this is done.
I had quite a bit of evidence of, to say the least, puzzling approvals for tree removal.
"The dogs bark, and the caravan passes"...
The city is here, criminals are protected by the law. Have a lovely day.
Municipality trashes criminals under the protection of the law!
On Kiryat Sefer Street 23, there is a tree whose dry branches are entangled in electrical cables and fall over a sidewalk where many students pass, causing a real stir about the kindergartens where the state religious school is located, as well as other kindergartens in the area.
The municipality and the electric company referred me to the committee of that building, but there are no "homeowners" for the building, it is entirely rented.
In addition, the municipality said that the building was about to be demolished (the plan did not pass and the issue was dropped).
In the meantime, the tree stands and no one bothers to take care of it until the disaster around the corner.
